Responsibilities
The Maintenance Engineer will play a critical role in supporting the an area maintenance shop at Eastman. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, a proactive approach to reliability activities, and excellent communication skills, all while fostering a zero-incident mindset regarding equipment and process safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide precision maintenance support for chemical manufacturing equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and implement reliability improvement activities to enhance equipment uptime and operational efficiency.
- Advocate for and promote a zero-incident mindset, prioritizing safety in all maintenance practices.
- Collaborate closely with operations and execution teams to understand maintenance needs and priorities.
- Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Lead root cause analysis for equipment failures and recommend corrective actions, always focusing on safety and prevention
- Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and ensure compliance with company and industry standards
- Mentor and train maintenance team on best practices and technical skills related to rotating and fixed equipment, emphasizing safe working practices
- Review and update training documentation
- Support daily and weekly priority-based scheduling
- Own spare parts strategy to optimize tradeoffs between inventory commitment and equipment reliability
- Identify tools and methodology for preventative and predictive maintenance downtime
- Perform and support asset criticality assessments for assigned areas
- Develop and maintain asset management strategies for equipment in assigned areas
- Drive reduction in mean time to repair for critical equipment failures
- Support immediate production reliability events as they arise
- Originate and develop analysis to rapidly repair equipment
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance processes, capabilities and safety culture
- Acquire failure data and prepare maintenance plans for restoring equipment to operation condition in a minimum amount of time
- Gather and examine maintainability data to develop well-defined repair techniques, principles and maintenance procedures
- Prepare general diagrams, charts drawings and spare parts requirements for Maintenance Planners
- Determine cost advantages of alternatives and develop action plans that comply with demands for timely repairs of equipment
- Perform detailed maintainability studies and calculations of complexity/system downtime
- Initiate elemental engineering studies into equipment/process repair time and present findings and recommendations to leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required
- 2+ years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment required; 5+ years highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors and turbines
- Familiarity with reliability-centered maintenance principles and practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to fostering a zero-incident mindset and promoting safety in all maintenance activities
- Proficient in using maintenance management systems and engineering software
