Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and results oriented Lead Instrument Design Engineer to join our Eastman Corporate Engineering team. This position will work with both local and remote design teams to lead the execution of Instrumentation scope of work. As the Lead Instrument Design Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the Instrumentation scope for various large capital projects during Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design phases to ensure their successful completion. Your expertise in Instrumentation principles and practices, combined with your extensive experience in the chemical industry, will be crucial in leading a project team of engineers and designers and driving to successful project completion.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, including all engineering disciplines, project managers, operations, and procurement, to ensure seamless project integration and successful project delivery
- Lead and manage the execution of Instrumentation scope of work at the selected engineering service provider in all phases (Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Design)
- Define the discipline list of activities, list of deliverables, time schedule
- Produces a detailed list of in / out critical information to be closely monitored
- Monitor and reports actual progress and forecasting / check for Discipline activities, including management of labor hours and delivered documents
- Coordinate the evaluation of the design changes to the original scope of work and verify the implementation of those approved
- Prepare and review engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents, ensuring compliance with industry standards, codes and regulations
- Apply industry codes and standards relevant to the chemical industry, such as ISO, ANSI, IEEE and other applicable codes, in the design and evaluation instrumentation systems and equipment
- Conduct thorough reviews and quality control checks to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
- Stay updated with the latest advancements and trends in Instrument engineering, particularly in the chemical industry, and identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
- Utilize software tools and applications, such as Intools, Bluebeam, Navisworks, AVEVA Engineering or equivalent and other engineering design software, to support Electrical Engineering activities and enhance project efficiency
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronic, Electrical, Instrument/Control preferred) or a related field required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering field with focus on the chemical industry
- 5 years minimum as lead Instrument engineer with work experience in large capital projects execution
- Experience with relay-based logic panels, generic PLC operation, fiber optics, radio networks, multiplexer systems, digital instrumentation, operator graphics displays, digital systems integration, would all be an advantage
- Ability to mentor and develop lesser experienced team members
- Proven experience in leading a project team of engineers, with excellent leadership and communication skills
- Familiarity with capital stage gate process and understanding of project execution
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Knowledge of safety regulations and standards related to instrumentation engineering in the chemical industry
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus
- Open to travel as needed
