The Instrument Technician is a member of the Instrument Services Group within the Site Support Services Department of CM&S Division.  The Instrument Technician directly supports all aspects of Eastman's Instrument Shop and is the primary person responsible for the repair and calibration of flow instrumentation. The Instrument Technician is expected to provide technical support to the Instrument Shop, Scales, Field Calibration, Area Maintenance, Engineering, Capital, and Technology groups. Serving on various Instrument Safety, Quality, & Reliability teams is also expected. Overtime demand for this role can be high and come at inconvenient times during nights and weekends. In this role, you will be expected to work flexible hours in order to make themselves available after hours to meet the needs of our Operations and Maintenance partners.


  • Repair and calibrate all types of flow instruments used at TNO; Coriolis, Mag, Vortex, DP flow transmitters, LC meters, etc.
  • Provide technical support to the Instrument Shop, Field Calibration, Area Maintenance/Operations, Engineering, Technology, Capital, etc.
  • Provide hands-on support & back-up in the Instrument Shop as workload fluctuates
  • Oversee & manage the Instrument Services repair and support of the Personal Monitor/Analyzer program at the site (in accordance to Eastman Safety standards)
  • Repair and calibrate all types of personal monitors/analyzers
  • Handle warranty claims with vendors
  • Work with maintenance crews to promote equipment reliability and follow up on recommendations
  • Help with root cause analyses (RCAs)
  • Place orders via Purchase Requisitions, P-Card, etc.
  • Document cost savings and cost avoidance




  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Must have a minimum of an Associate's degree in a relevant Maintenance program
  • At least 5 years' Maintenance experience, including 3+ years' experience of repair and calibration of flow transmitters and flow meters
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Must like hands-on work
  • Must be able to manage own workload and work independently or in a team setting
  • Must understand and follow all applicable safety requirements and expectations

  • Graduate of the Eastman Maintenance Apprenticeship Program (MAP) 
  • Emerson, Yokagawa, Endress Hauser flow training
  • Experience with SAP, including searching for and ordering parts
  • Previous repair and calibration experience of personal monitors/analyzers
