Responsibilities

 

Eastman Tennessee Operations (TNO) is seeking an experienced Industrial Safety Representative. This professional role requires in-depth knowledge and experience in industrial safety and is responsible for the development and execution of industrial and personal safety programs to ensure employee well-being, regulatory compliance and support of corporate objectives. In this role, you’ll independently lead the safety improvement and injury prevention process to drive Eastman towards our ultimate goal of zero incidents. You will maintain understanding of new regulations and assesses their impact on the company and will play a key role in the mission of Global Health and Safety, our Vision of a Zero Incident Mindset culture.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate safety initiatives and teams to solve complex problems
  • Anticipate, identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices
  • Actively promote and drive the corporate safety vision of a Zero Incident Mindset (ZIM) culture
  • Manage TNO safety policies/procedures and the Safe Practices Manual
  • Support industrial safety-related training curriculum development and presentations in conjunction with site Training Services
  • Support TNO VPP and RCMS certification
  • Serve as subject matter expert for Life Critical Processes and support program elements, such as audits and corrective action completions
  • Participate in after-hours on-call program
  • Create and deliver safety-related communications such as Safe-T-Grams, All Points Bulletins and Safe Practices Manual updates
  • Evaluate manufacturing and non-manufacturing areas to identify hazardous conditions
  • Support assigned Divisions by being a technical subject matter expert on industrial safety
  • Support development and implementation of corporate safety policies and programs, applying knowledge of best practices from TNO for global adaptation
  • Measure, audit and evaluate the effectiveness of safety policies, procedures and programs
  • Analyze hazardous situations and research government regulations to determine which problems pose significant risk
  • Support the radiation program as needed

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Occupational Safety and Health or related technical degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing required; chemical or petrochemical industry experience highly preferred.
  • CSP / CIH certification highly preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulation and working knowledge of ACC Responsible Care codes and ANSI
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong technical / analytical skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities and the ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Strong initiative, focus and ability to follow-through on work tasks
  • Effective organization and planning skills
  • Ability to adapt to different cultural environments
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues or problems
