Responsibilities

The Cellulose Esters (CE) Division Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager will provide CE Division HSES leadership and has responsibility for developing and executing HSES programs in order to assure all personnel (Eastman and Contractor) well-being, regulatory compliance and support to site / corporate objectives.  This position works independently to lead safety improvements and injury prevention processes to drive the division towards the goal of institutionalizing a zero-incident mindset.  
The CE Division HSE Coordinator will report directly to the Group Leader, Industrial Safety Services within GHSES.
 
Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Establishes culture, acts, and works safely; proactively and consistently role models key safety processes and the need for their improvement; holds others accountable by being present with people in the field
  • Roles models core values, values diversity, demonstrates emotional maturity and uses to maintain an environment that is free from pressures and diversions not appropriate for a work environment
  • Establish Safety Vision, strategy, metrics and goals for the Division by setting and establishing standards of performance in alignment with site and corporation.
  • Serve on the Division Leadership Team, CE Safety KRA, CE Process Safety KRA, Division and site safety coordinator teams by building and maintain effective network of department and division safety representatives.
  • Champion personal / process / Industrial Health safety processes for both Eastman and contractor employees
  • Implement Division wide safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with company, local, state, federal, and OSHA rules and regulations, while implementing best practices from within the industry by applying knowledge of best practices from experience and external connections
  • Lead and facilitate safety initiatives and teams to solve complex problems.
  • Identify important safety opportunities and develop plans to close gaps with means to track improvement initiatives to closure
  • Lead and coach others through accident and near-miss investigations and make recommendations for improvement to management (align with RCA and Reliability Eng)
  • Standardize safety processes across TNO site and within CE 
     

Qualifications

  • BS Degree Required (Preferred discipline Occupational Safety and Health or related 4-year technical degree)
  • 5+ years’ work experience required in chemical or industrial manufacturing safety, or related chemical plant experience
  • Certified Safety Professional preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA; Internal Employee Safety Regulations and ACC Responsible Care codes
  • Experience implementing new safety programs within a manufacturing corporation
  • Self-started highly motivated by the ability to set strategy and drive the HSES performance
  • Ability to understand and guide work within a matrixed organization
  • Ability to prioritize, make assignments, and ensure execution in a high activity environment
  • Ability to work under pressure while staying organized and continuously meet deadlines
  • Strong investigation and Root Cause Analysis skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; Ability to communicate the right level of detail to the right audience, at the right time
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Strong cross-organizational networking skills
