The primary objective of a health, safety, and environment (HSE) management system is to minimize impact to the environment and improve worker safety and well-being.  A crucial aspect of that is the effective implementation of procedures and practices to deliver on that objective, since an effective management system is known to improve manufacturing discipline and excellence in operations. Common HSE management systems include RCMS, RC14001, ISO14001, and ISO45001. 
The HSE Management System Representative is a full-time position responsible for driving effective implementation of HSE management systems at Eastman’s global manufacturing operations.  The HSE Management System Representative will collaborate with multiple corporate functions (e.g., Global HSES, Legal, Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, etc.) to ensure the objectives of Eastman’s HSE management systems are met.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify ownership, initiative, & drive to deliver exceptional customer focused and collaborative results
  • Provide global management system coordination for Responsible Care®, ISO14001, ISO45001, and others as applicable
  • Manage internal and external HSE management system audits including organization, leadership, and effective deployment of audit teams as appropriate
  • Coordinate internal resources to establish effective HSE management systems at Eastman sites including management of resources, enterprise needs, volunteers, and consulting partners 
  • Provide experienced HSE insight to audited facilities regarding audit findings and corrective action plans
  • Prepare audit reports and maintain accurate data for audit processes
  • Identify and/or develop implementation tools to assist manufacturing facilities in maintaining or achieving HSE Management System certification(s)
  • Monitor management system performance and facilitate site efforts to continuously improve HSE performance
  • Participate in various HSE teams, initiatives, and activities as skills and development plan relate
  • Champion and support the initiatives of the GHSES organization



  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental or a related technical field 
  • Exceptional leadership/teamwork skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a matrixed environment 
  • Willingness and ability to lead audit teams consisting of regional and international personnel at Eastman’s manufacturing sites 
  • Minimum 5 yrs experience in engineering, manufacturing, technology, safety and/or regulatory compliance
  • Experience in addressing regulatory/compliance issues at a manufacturing site(s), either within the direct manufacturing line of management or in a related service organization
  • Experience in leading or participating in corporate HSE assessments and audits 
  • Self-starter, effective communicator (both verbal and written), and networker 

Certification or Licensing:

  • No certification or licensing required.  However, helpful credentials would include Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Professional Environmental Auditor, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, European Engineer, and Professional Engineer registrations, or equivalent.


  • Approximately 10-15% travel is required for this position
