Responsibilities

As Eastman transforms its portfolio and develops world-class products to enhance the quality of life in a material way, the need for effective execution of key innovation processes is essential to drive growth.  The Growth Process Steward position resides in the Growth Process Steward Center of Excellence and supports one or more of Eastman's business aligned growth portfolios.  The Growth Process Steward serves as the key liason between Gatekeeping Teams and Project Teams to ensure internal processes support the company's growth strategy and activation.

Major Responsibilities include:

Stage-Gate Process - influence design, implement, and sustain the idea-to-launch process for their team
• Stage Gate and Check Step Review facilitation
• Ensure Gatekeeping Team operating principles are documented, communicated, and followed, recommending improvements as needed
• Management of project information such as project financials, file management, and moving projects through gates at appropriate times
• Facilitate Performance Agreement development and approval process

Portfolio Management - provide input to the process using best practices to ensure their team optimizes and allocates resources to maximize value of portfolio and employs good process hygiene
• Organize and maintain portfolio through tracking of metrics, goals, dashboards, budget, and milestones
• Ensure process dashboards are correct and are utilized in reviews and by management
• Facilitate improvement efforts for portfolio management

Coach/Mentor - coach and educate teams on the processes
• Ensure projects go through the appropriate process (Stage Gate, Non-Stage Gate) and guide Gatekeeping team on gate appropriate topics
• Determine project readiness for gate reviews.  Ensure project teams have the deliverables needed for each stage of a project and shape gate reviews with project team to help drive successful choices/decisions
• Act as a focal point for Stage-Gate process feedback
• Participate in Growth Process Steward COE and bring best practices and opportunities for improvement to light.
 

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or higher in Chemistry or other Scientific Discipline or MBA - Required
3-5 years prior experience in commercial, marketing, or relevant technical roles - Required
Strong business/marketing acumen - Required
Familiar with EBME/Stage Gate process - Preferred
Excellent written and verbal cross-functional communication - Required
Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail - Required
Strong networking skills and the ability to influence without authority - Required
