Responsibilities

Responsibilities: Control Systems Plant Engineering

 

This position provides control systems electrical engineering support for Kingsport Site operating departments and global manufacturing sites.

  • Process automation projects using programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Distributed Control System (DCS) based control platforms, control system hardware and software upgrades, system networking, and operator graphic interfaces, and capital project support.
  • Process automation projects using function block and ladder logic can include continuous controls, sequencing, batch processes, and interlock and shutdown systems.
  • Software development using programming languages such as Visual Basic, C and C++
  • Investigate, recommend and implement safe and secure process automation hardware and software solutions.
  • Provide DCS/PLC hardware and software specifications and cost estimates.
  • Provide expertise during installation, checkout, start-up, and operation of control systems.

 

Responsibilities: Process Engineering

  • Opportunity to specialize in power systems, including (but not limited to) generation, medium and low voltage substations, relaying, intrinsically safe equipment, medium voltage motors, and various grounding systems including high resistance grounding.
  • Lead specification and design of industrial power systems and utility interface for global manufacturing sites.
  • Lead specification and design of substations for new facilities and replacement of existing substations.
  • Use power system modeling software to calculate and evaluate arc flash, load flow, and short circuit values, and to study selective coordination and motor starting.
  • Provide system-wide troubleshooting and power quality analysis.
  • Provide capital project support (scope definition, cost estimation, supplier interaction, checkout, etc.).
  • Participate in Utilities Risk Assessments as well as Reliability and Vulnerability Assessments.
  • Provide electrical engineering support for operating facilities worldwide.
  • Develop, adopt, and maintain Corporate and site-specific electrical engineering standards.
  • Conduct supplier equipment inspections.

 

Eastman Engineering Rotational Development Program

  • Train and onboard at the corporate headquarters in Kingsport, TN within one of the Plant Engineering Areas for 24 – 36 months and then relocate to one of Eastman’s other US domestic manufacturing sites.  Rotations are based on business need. Following completion of the program, participants will be placed in the position that best suits their skills.
  • Serve in a site staff role which could include managing capital projects, providing day-to-day trouble shooting support for manufacturing and maintenance, and/or driving growth initiatives in a multidisciplinary team-oriented environment.
  • Develop broad networks and key contacts across the corporation while building engineering and leadership skills in order to support future growth opportunities.
  • Flexibility to grow through rotations while experiencing a variety of disciplines, projects and US domestic geographies.
     

Qualifications

Desired Skills, Attributes, Experience, and Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • Control Systems position requires Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • This position is for an entry-level Electrical Engineer. Less than 2 years of post-graduate experience is preferred.
