Job Description

 

Environmental Instrument Analysts (EIAs) provide initial accidental discharge response, perform sample collection, and maintain/calibrate all continuous environmental instrumentation for all manufacturing divisions and wastewater treatment. When performing sample analysis or tracing the source of accidental discharges, they operate a variety of analytical instrumentation and perform various types of analytical testing. The position requires low to moderate physical exertion and work in adverse weather as needed.  This position will work a 12 hour rotating shift on a crew after completion of an initial short training period that works Monday-Friday day shifts, with some overtime required depending on business needs.  The Environmental Instrument Analyst (EIA) will report to the Water Monitoring Team Manager of the Environmental Services Laboratory.   
 

Responsibilities

 

•    Accurate and representative collections of water monitoring samples for analysis.
•    Uses portable and fixed monitors to analyze water.
•    Responsible for calibration of test analyzers and equipment to ensure accuracy of test results.
•    Responsible for data entry and integrity of various electronic data handling systems and data collection software programs.
•    Performs manual calibrations and routine maintenance on analyzers and analyzer systems.
•    Responsible for set up and operation of the appropriate sampling equipment as defined in the applicable state or federal regulations.
•    Responsible for maintaining sampling equipment.
•    Performs all required QA/QC work including chain of custody forms, state and independent audit forms, and test spreadsheets with appropriate calculations.
•    Responsible for completing simple laboratory analyst activities such as weighing, preparation of solutions, glassware cleaning, measuring volumes of solutions, and filling out laboratory data sheets.
•    Responsible for manual operations such as inserting/removing probes and instruments, and applicable pipefitting and electrical wiring.
•    Performs accurate reading of the plant sewer maps and utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS).

 

Qualifications

 

  • Valid driver's license for operation of a company vehicle within and outside the plant perimeter.
  • Must be capable of clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Internet)
  • Upon selection, the team member will be required to complete the EIA/PIA structured training program.
  • Must successfully completed workkeys with the required levels for Eastman: 
    • Applied Mathematics - Level 6
    • Graphic Literacy - Level 5
    • Workplace Documents - Level 6
