Responsibilities
******* This leadership role is an on-site position based at our Kingsport, TN corporate headquarters. Relocation assistance is available. ********
• Collaborate with global, cross-functional deal teams executing M&A transactions
• Work directly with internal and external stakeholders, as a representative of Corporate Development and Eastman, to develop and cultivate a robust pipeline of attractive M&A opportunities for Eastman
• Develop insights, analyses, and recommendations, captured in high-quality materials, and present them to senior management and business leadership to drive internal alignment and executive decisions
• Perform comprehensive M&A modeling, valuation, and financial analysis required to inform strategic choices
• Understand Eastman’s strategic landscape and capital markets environment, including developing a strong external network to engage with investment bankers, capital providers and other external service providers
• Working collaboratively across the global Eastman organization to drive successful results
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess most of the following capabilities and qualities, but above all must have a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.
• Knowledge, understanding, and ability to collaborate with cross-functional, multidisciplinary teams through all aspects of M&A transactions, including business development, due diligence, strategic/financial analysis, and deal negotiation/execution
o Strategic rationale and logic underlying portfolio choices and investment decisions
o Deal process, due diligence, transaction structures and mechanics
o Understand legal and regulatory concepts governing M&A transactions
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to bring together large, cross-functional, global teams to drive alignment and action to drive strategic choices and deliver successful results. Experience and effectiveness working within large, matrixed global organizations is important. Ability to influence and lead others in the broader Eastman organization through a transaction
• Ability to perform robust M&A modeling, valuation and financial analyses, and coach, guide, and direct others on the analytical and technical aspects of M&A analysis
o Examples include merger models with three-statement pro forma financials, shareholder value creation analysis, sum-of-the parts, DCF, LBO, IRR, ROIC analyses, and comparable trading/transactions analysis
• Envision and develop high-quality presentation materials for senior management and external stakeholders, working both independently and collaboratively within a team. Take ownership of developing strategic content and creatively design both substance and form of work product
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and successful work habits
o High attention to detail, resourceful, well-organized, and good time management
o Positive attitude, welcomes feedback, seeks to understand, adapts rapidly to dynamic environment while helping team stay balanced and focused
o Earn trust and confidence of internal and external stakeholders, including Eastman business and functional leaders, M&A deal counterparties, and external advisors
Education and Experience
• 8+ years of total experience including corporate development, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or related fields such as internal corporate/product strategy or finance/accounting functions
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
• Corporate finance/accounting coursework required, either through formal education or job training program
