Job Description:

 

CM&S Division is seeking a Contractor Field Specialist (CFS) which will have the following reporting structure: 

 

  • The CFS works under the supervision of a Site Support Services Area Manager with a dotted line to the Construction Managers in Construction Management when performing field audits for capital jobs. When a CFS supports a capital project, the Construction Technologists will have decision rights.
  • The intent is to not have the Contracting Field Specialists assigned to a specific production area (ex. Polymers, CMD, etc.) but available to go where the work resides. 

Job Functions:

 

  • Provides field optimization coaching for safety, risk assessment, productivity and crew and individual efficiency.  Assumes responsibility for ensuring that all requirements and work activities performed by the field personnel are conducted safely, cost effectively and with the proper quality to improve site and crew overall efficiency.  
  • Audits contractor work including coordinated field activities between work groups, monitoring job progress and verifying quality of work in support of SOP-GHSES-01-02 Contractor Safety Management.
  • Functions as a liaison if needed between contractors and internal Eastman plant customers to remove barriers to efficient work execution.
  • Maintains positive working relationships with contractors to achieve quality, good service, and cost control for TNO.  Share observed best practices and lessons learned and help develop methods for quantifying the savings related to documented improvements. 
  • Spends 75% of time in the field auditing knowledge of safe work processes, consistent use / application of appropriate safe work processes, encourages feedback and will hold the line to ensure all safe work processes are completed as intended and removing obstacles and ensuring contractors are doing the work that was scheduled. 
  • Verifies understanding of Eastman permitting process, work techniques, tool usage, equipment condition and safety behaviors; monitor work activities for compliance and safe execution.
  • Captures and resolves discrepancies or reports to the resources that can.
  • Conducts field studies to gather data and track contractor “wrench time”.
  • Reviews number and duration estimates in SAP for planned contractor work prior to the field audit in order to make a planned vs actual comparison.
  • Splits audits of contractor jobs between scheduled and reactive work to better understand the impact on schedule compliance, productivity, permitting delays, and wrench time.

Uses computers to:

 

  • Access procedures and other information.
  • Access and complete required training.
  • Input/retrieve data from SAP workorder system, Viziya scheduling software.
  • Monitor contractor performance metrics in PowerBi.
  • Input observations into iShare.
  • Access ISNetworld and CEMS/NERM to understand risk management status.
  • Access SharePoint sites to gain and upload information and data.

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance or construction crafts in a petrochemical plant environment. (Preferred)
  • Internal candidate must have completed one of the following:  TNO Mechanic, STP or Operator Apprenticeship Program. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience at TNO in maintenance and/or operations. (Preferred)
  • HS Diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid driver's license.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

 

 

Desirable Skills / Qualities:

 

  • Technical expertise from formal training and/or work experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Industrial maintenance or construction crafts
    • Coordinating execution work groups
    • Project or quality control
  • Broad experience with maintenance or construction in a petrochemical / refinery facility.
  • Knowledge of job estimating and productivity evaluation methods for maintenance and construction crafts. 
  • Technical knowledge in excavation/trenching or working at heights.
  • Understanding of critical path scheduling and experience utilizing Viziya, MS Project, Primavera or similar scheduling tools.
  • Knowledge of process industry related safety and environmental policies and programs.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Behavior Based Safety process.
  • Proficiency in SAP, Excel, and Access, including the ability to create basic spreadsheets
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete a variety of seemingly unrelated tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with a broad range of people
  • Ability to plan ahead and handle many details
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
