Job description:
 

Interested in joining a specialty materials company committed to addressing climate change, the plastic waste crisis, and the needs of a growing global population? Eastman seeks an experienced writer to develop compelling content for a variety of products and initiatives. The content writer will work closely with creative, digital, account, and business teams to support the company’s marketing communications strategies. Successful candidates should have a portfolio demonstrating exceptional writing, editing, and research skills.

Overview:
 

  • As part of Eastman’s creative team, the content writer will work with marketing, business, and technology teams to understand target audiences and create effective content for marketing campaigns.
  • The content writer should understand complex value propositions, value chains, and customer personas to tell compelling stories that show how Eastman can help customers win in their markets.
  • The work will include digital content, branding, online and printed product and marketing information, print and online advertising, trade shows, press releases, media placements, promotions, contests, and co-branded initiatives.

Roles and responsibilities
 

Research
 

  • Conduct effective research and interview subject matter experts
  • Gain a clear understanding and verify the accuracy of complex topics with decision-makers 
  • Work with account team to understand communication strategies, target audience, customer experience, tactical execution, goals, objectives, and measures for success
  • Understand content channels and optimize content and stories for best engagement 
  • Have clear understanding of brand position, key messages, and proof points for Eastman material solutions

 

Content creation

  • Write compelling content for print, digital, video, and social media 
  • Produce well-written content that is SEO friendly 
  • Collaborate with design and account team members
  • Brainstorm concepts that promote Eastman products and initiatives
  • Act as a brand steward, ensuring consistency in the way Eastman presents itself 
  • Proofread and edit as necessary
  • Juggle multiple projects to meet deadlines

Qualifications

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or English preferred
  • Five years of journalism, writing, marketing, or communications experience preferred

Required skill set:

  • Journalism, copywriting, or creative writing background (writing samples required)
  • Writing and storytelling expertise 
  • Ability to conceptualize videos and write scripts
  • Excellent command of grammar and the English language
  • Ability to manage communications with a variety of internal stakeholders
  • Ability to make tight deadlines while maintaining high quality and accuracy
