Note: We are looking to staff positions across all of Plant Engineering Areas

 

The Civil Area Expert will provide primary technical leadership within a KPE group aligned with one or more operational divisions at Eastman’s Tennessee Operations site. The Civil Area Expert will serve as the primary mentor for early career employees within the Civil discipline. The area expert will leverage their expertise to provide workload portfolio management for their area of support, lead large capital projects (SCPs/SERs) or SWAT teams, help with turnaround coordination, and drive small capital execution excellence. Other responsibilities include D&ER feedback to supervisor, and peer review responsibilities for early career employees. 

 

Employee & Technical Development

  • Serve as a leader in the application of a Zero Incident Mindset (ZIM), with a consistent demonstration of both personal and process safety principles for other team members
  • Mentor newer engineers and / or technologists within the KPE team 
  • Provide Development & Evaluation Review (D&ER) feedback for new-hire team members to supervision 
  • Complete technical peer review of early career employee projects, or delegate as needed
  • Review exceptions to engineering standards 

 

Manufacturing Alignment

  • Manage the portfolio of engineering project work for the assigned area 
  • Provide oversight for team’s turnaround (TAR) engineering deliverables
  • Participate and lead “SWAT” efforts or business growth projects as needed
  • Maintain high-level understanding of assets and business objectives for the assigned area
  • Manage the portfolio of capital engineering project work for the assigned area 
  • Complete capital project reviews and analysis with team members
  • Participate in Project Value Review Teams (PVRTs) 
  • Provide technical engineering oversight and execution for SERs and SCPs
  • Participate in SCP Execution Excellence Key Initiative (KI) as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited college/university 
  • Previous experience in a technical role with project management experience required. 
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred
  • 5+ years of relevant experience developing engineering solutions in a manufacturing environment preferred 
  • Proven demonstration of both personal and process safety principles for self and others
  • Must be a self-starter, with demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proven experience leading teams, navigating organizational boundaries, solving problems, and collaborating with others
  • Excellent work ethic and ability to organize, prioritize and execute assignments in a high-activity environment
  • Ability to quickly develop strong partnerships with team members, project teams, other organizations, and individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds and skill sets 
  • Proven attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills
  • Must follow corporate and site standards in the design and execution of all project work.
