Position Summary

Eastman is seeking a strategic, results-driven Vice President, Global Sourcing & Procurement to lead enterprise-wide sourcing across Direct, Indirect and Alternate Methods of Supply (AMS). This senior leader will have full accountability for sourcing feedstocks and raw materials, MRO, third‑party contractor services, capital equipment, AMS arrangements (co‑producer arrangements, swaps, tolling and contract manufacturing), and other goods and services across Eastman’s global enterprise. The role leads a global team (>200 professionals), oversees an operating budget of >$20M, and partners with senior leaders in Business Units, Finance, Operations, Engineering, Legal and Sustainability to drive cost advantage, supplier-led innovation, supply continuity and sustainable sourcing practices. This role is based in Kingsport, TN and requires ~20% travel globally. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute Eastman’s enterprise sourcing strategy across Direct, Indirect and AMS channels to optimize total cost of ownership (TCO), quality, delivery performance and supplier innovation.
  • Develop and execute category plans and strategic sourcing programs across feedstocks, raw materials, MRO, services, capital equipment and AMS arrangements using market intelligence, TCO analysis and scenario planning.
  • Provide executive ownership and governance for AMS strategies and commercial models (co producer contracts, swaps, tolling and contract manufacturing), ensuring appropriate risk allocation, commercial terms, operational integration and regulatory/compliance alignment.
  • Lead, develop and scale a global procurement organization (>200 professionals), building capability across category management, AMS commercial models, strategic sourcing, supplier lifecycle management, contract governance and procurement operations.
  • Negotiate and govern strategic supplier relationships and AMS counterparties: contract structure, performance governance, pricing mechanisms, change of control protections, IP/technology rights and dispute resolution.
  • Manage the procurement operating budget and financial stewardship for procurement activities (>$20M), including raw material forecasting, tracking savings, measuring project ROI and supporting working capital objectives.
  • Lead procurement digital transformation: drive adoption of e procurement, source to pay automation, advanced analytics and tools that support AMS modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Manufacturing, Legal, Sustainability and business units to integrate AMS arrangements into production planning, inventory strategy, quality controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supplier and AMS-related risks (geopolitical, counterparty, regulatory, continuity, quality) and maintain robust business continuity, contingency and counterparty credit plans.
  • Establish, report and drive accountability on procurement and AMS KPIs and performance metrics; ensure compliance with Eastman policies, internal controls and applicable laws.
  • Represent Eastman externally at industry forums, supplier summits and strategic partnership discussions to expand AMS options and strengthen the supplier ecosystem.
  • Champion responsible sourcing and supplier ESG integration across Direct, Indirect and AMS suppliers, advancing decarbonization, circularity and social compliance efforts.

Success Measures

  • Annual realized cost savings and value delivered vs. targets (savings, process value, supplier innovation outcomes), including AMS-related value.
  • Percent of addressable spend under contract and strategic supplier/AMS counterparty coverage.
  • Supplier and AMS counterparty quality, on time delivery and throughput performance.
  • Inventory turns and working capital improvements attributable to procurement and AMS initiatives.
  • Adoption and impact of procurement systems and AMS modeling tools (eProcurement utilization, PO automation rates, scenario/financial modeling adoption).
  • Reduction in critical supplier, materials and AMS counterparty risk exposures and number of mitigations executed.
  • Progress against supplier ESG, decarbonization and responsible sourcing targets across all sourcing channels.
  • Procurement team engagement, retention and capability development, including AMS commercial skills and governance capabilities.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Finance or related field required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive procurement/commercial experience, covering Direct, Indirect and non traditional sourcing/AMS models; minimum 5 years in senior leadership within a large, global, complex organization.
  • Deep category expertise with feedstocks and raw materials; strong background in MRO, services and capital procurement. Experience in chemicals, specialty materials or industrial manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience structuring and managing AMS arrangements such as co producer agreements, swaps, tolling and contract manufacturing, including commercial terms, operational integration and risk management.
  • Proven track record of delivering significant, measurable cost savings and business value through strategic sourcing, supplier collaboration and complex commercial models.
  • Experience managing a sizeable procurement operating budget and delivering financial stewardship (>$20M).
  • Strong knowledge of contract structure and negotiation, counterparty risk, trade/compliance, regulatory frameworks and IP/commercial protections relevant to AMS.
  • Experience leading procurement transformation and deploying procurement technology, advanced analytics and AMS scenario modeling.
  • Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, executive communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build high performing teams, develop talent and lead change in a global matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic, commercial thinker with strong results orientation and comfort with alternative commercial models.
  • Proven track record as a collaborative and authentic leader who builds trust across functions and with suppliers and AMS counterparties.
  • Experience making data driven decisions and leveraging analytics and market intelligence for AMS scenario planning.
  • High integrity and commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with executive presence and ability to influence at the enterprise level.
  • Proven change agent who can scale capabilities while maintaining operational reliability.
