Responsibilities

The Construction Manager provides leadership throughout execution of capital projects and is responsible for maximizing the value by safely executing projects within budget, on schedule and ensuring that the required operability is achieved. The Construction Manager is responsible for planning and executing capital projects to meet specified project objectives. Interaction with operations, technology, business, and other corporate support organizations as well as senior management is a key component of the job requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage capital project execution for a portfolio of projects in Kingsport and other sites as assigned
  • Recognize critical issues and act on them to preclude project problems.
  • Ensure a Zero Incident Mindset and principles are being demonstrated
  • Ensure communication to appropriate personnel in the execution of capital projects from Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Maintenance (EPCOM)
  • Manage execution of the project in accordance with established schedules, budget, and project objectives
  • Manage construction contractors to be accountable for safe work and quality of installation
  • Interface with engineering and construction contractors
  • Review and ensure Eastman compliance with contractor agreement(s)
  • Communicate upcoming work projections to project teams and stakeholders
  • Promote use of Eastman Capital Process and implement the appropriate WWE&C Capital Processes
  • Facilitate obtaining appropriate building permits
  • Ensure that best-value practices are used to manage project scope and changes
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of project plans and associated documents especially as it relates to estimates, schedules, and constructability plans
  • Work with Project Controls personnel to monitor, report, and document the progress of work and provide feedback on budget and schedule deviations
  • Provide input to Project Team on schedule and cost related issues
  • Evaluate and report project performance
  • Ensure appropriate resource availability for project schedules and execution strategies
  • Review and approve project change orders
  • Participate in external benchmarking activities for assigned capital projects as necessary
  • Serve on and lead teams associated with work process improvement and project related issues
  • Consider safety, cost, and schedule in overall project plan to ensure objectives are met at best overall value

Qualifications

•    5+ years' combined experience preferred in execution of Capital Projects whether in Industrial Construction, Engineering and/or Procurement or other comparable experience.
•    Candidate must have outstanding communication and coordination skills and demonstrated team leadership skills.
•    Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and be dedicated to delivering safe capital projects
•    Willing to travel as required (up to 50%)
