The Assistant Risk Manager identifies risk and develops strategies to manage and/or mitigate risks through comprehensive analysis; internal and external partnership; and risk management policy execution.  In this highly visible role, the team members will gain exposure as they interact with various aspects of the Company’s Insurable Risk Management program.  The role helps lead the daily decision-making and management of several of the Company’s Insurance policies including workers compensation, general liability, excess liability, and more. The role supports domestic and international lines, and interfaces with internal and external partners including Legal, Human Resources, Procurement, Department of Labor, Medical, Insurance Carriers and Insurance Brokers.  


The candidate needs strong contract negotiation and project management skills.  The individual will interface regularly with senior personnel and external legal counsel and will need to exercise independent analysis and problem-solving skills.     


•    Provide oversight to Eastman’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program, evaluating and proactively recognizing risks that could impact the safety, security, or financial success of the organization
•    Provide strategic guidance and influence across multiple stakeholders to drive effective and thorough decision making related to US and International Casualty programs
•    Administer, guide, and direct the US and International Casualty programs, including:
   o    US and International Casualty
   o    Workers’ Compensation 
   o    Auto and General Liability
   o    Employers Liability
   o    Owner’s Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP)
   o    Excess Liability 
•    Apply sound judgement in evaluation of risks, controls, and impacts to corporate financials
•    Drive Risk Reduction and Risk Transfer 
   o    Train stakeholders on best practices in contracting, reporting, and claims management
   o    Collaborate with partners on special projects and support team with other insurance lines 
   o    Support Company with contract language review as needed for insurance, indemnity, risk transfer considerations
•    Manage policy placement and claims, including leading negotiations with external parties
•    Oversee loss prevention efforts with the business units and ensure documentation is updated
•    Maintain relationships with Third-Party Administrators 
•    Prepare premium budgets and forecasts and collaborate/communicate with relevant stakeholders
•    Actively participate on Mergers, Acquisitions, and Divestitures team projects
 

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

•    Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics or business-related degree required
•    MBA preferred
•    10+ years of financial analysis experience preferred
•    ARM, CRMP, or other Risk Management certification preferred
