Responsibilities

The AR platform leader will drive the Multi-Generational Technology Platform (MGTP) in Animal Nutrition. He/she will be responsible for collaborating with internal and external partners to identify existing and to develop new screening models and biomarkers for new product development and follow-up on test execution. 
The AR platform leader will work in the AR group of our Care Solutions division, but needs to collaborate very closely with our regional Application Development (AD) managers in Animal Nutrition.

 

Key responsibilities:
- Map out the capabilities of universities and research institutes regarding animal health, focus monogastrics.
- Set up collaborations with identified external partners in line with our business strategy and needs: define research programs, follow up on milestones and process the results.
- Detect new trends in screening models and biomarkers.
- Organize quarterly internal brainstorm sessions with a cross functional team to identify and score feasibility of new active ingredients. 
- Being able to make the link between chemistry, biochemistry and animal physiology is key - effective communication with various departments within Eastman like application formulation and novel chemistry groups is critical to this role. 
- Liaise with our internal R&D, analytical and microbiology departments to develop and deploy internal research methods.
- Work closely together with our regional market segment teams and application development teams to identify the needs for the region and translate those into research projects.
- Represent Eastman at scientific conferences with abstracts, posters and presentations, write articles for scientific publications.
- Team up with our technology manager to determine the intellectual property strategy and write invention reports.
- Work together with our digital corporate technology team to explore data modelling.
- Regularly report out on the progress we are making with our MGTP to our various stakeholders. 

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in animal nutrition/production/health/science with chemistry background and/or Master's degree in chemistry with animal nutrition background, PhD preferred
- Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience in animal feed/ feed additive industry in an R&D role
- Demonstrable profound knowledge of animal health / physiology / animal modelling / (bio)chemistry
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill data and effectively present key message across our organization
- Track record of successfully developing innovative solutions
- Able to function in an innovative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment
- Fluent in English
- Willing to undertake local and international travel (25-50%)
