The Staple Fiber Application Development & Technical Service Representative will be responsible for supporting Eastman's manufacturing quality, and for providing technical service to spun yarn producers and their downstream customers.  The role is based in Kingsport, TN, but will include supporting customers outside of USA as well.

Job Responsibilities:
• Work closely with sales to support business objectives. Provide technical assistance to all sales and technical service representatives in assigned regions.
• Work with sales to evaluate new opportunities and recommend and specify material to be sampled.
• Use consultative skills to build effective customer relationships that the customer values.
• Develop and support capabilities at mills for successful production of yarns containing Eastman staple fibers.
• Lead application trials at targeted customers for critical stages during new product development
• Support introduction of new staple fibers at customers, and assist customers on new yarn and fabric style developments
• Assist new customers in understanding the unique processing requirements of Eastman fibers; and help troubleshoot customer manufacturing issues utilizing Eastman staple fibers.
• Audit yarn quality in customer’s plant and report back to Eastman Technology and manufacturing/QA as appropriate.
• Provide written technical trip reports to internal stakeholders.
• Assist in complaint investigations at the customer; work with Manufacturing and QA on to address customer issues.
• Provide appropriate applications training for sales, manufacturing, QA personnel.
• Provide accurate feedback to our QA organization to aid in product quality improvement. 
• Work closely with technology/product development colleagues to improve the performance of Eastman's staple fibers.
• Establish and maintain a high level of awareness of the competitive products and industry trends.
• Assemble, analyze and summarize internal and customer data, using proficiency in spreadsheet tools, data analysis, graphical visualization and statistics.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in product and product processing.
• Maintain/update technical materials.




Education - A Bachelor or Masters-level technical degree in textiles or engineering is required.  
Experience/Job Knowledge/Expertise - 
• 3-5 years experience in spun yarn production and processing is desired.
• High level of expertise in apparel fabric design and construction is preferred.
• Experience in weaving and knitting processes is highly desired.
• Demonstrated proficiency in technical trouble shooting and problem solving, especially in the field of staple yarn spinning.
• Work experience in technical support and customer interface 
• Aptitude and experience in data analysis and presentation using Microsoft Office software.
Initiative – The candidate must be a self-starter who takes initiative in developing and maintaining technical expertise and enjoys a high-level of interaction with customers and internal stakeholders. The position will require quickly learning the knowledge and skills necessary to bring value to the customer, applying both theoretical and hands-on capabilities.  
Language Skills –   Written and spoken proficiency in English is required. 
Communication skills – Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation & teaching skills are required. 
Teamwork – The candidate must have the interpersonal skills to develop strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders such as sales, QA, Technology and Manufacturing.
