Responsibilities

 

The Accounting Policies Manager at Eastman serves as a divisional technical and process expert and a key leader in establishing, maintaining, and applying accounting policies across our manufacturing and functional organizations. This role blends deep technical accounting, consolidated reporting, process optimization, and cross-functional leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting and compliance.


•    Serve as a key resource and subject matter expert to accounting policy owners by supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting policies and technical accounting memos; provide guidance to ensure policies remain current with ASC, SEC, and other relevant pronouncements.
•    Interpret new accounting standards and coordinate cross functional implementation plans (impact analysis, process changes, systems, controls, and disclosures).
•    Provide day to day technical accounting advice to key stakeholders
•    Lead accounting research and prepare technical accounting memos with clear conclusions and documented rationale for significant or non-routine transactions (e.g., M&A, divestitures, revenue contracts, leases, financial instruments).
•    Support quarterly and annual external financial reporting and SEC filings, including preparation and review of disclosures and schedules for compliance with GAAP and disclosure requirements.
•    Execute and maintain documentation for key SOX controls. 
•    Develop and deliver targeted training for Finance and business stakeholders to ensure consistent policy application across the organization.
•    Drive improvements to accounting processes and systems 
•    Maintain strong relationship with external auditors on technical accounting matters and support audit requests.
•    Coach, mentor, and serve as a technical resource for other accounting team members

Qualifications

 


•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other related degree
•    5+ years of progressive accounting experience with significant exposure to technical accounting
•    Demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP
•    Excel, Word, Power Point, and Teams skills


Preferred Qualifications


•    Advanced degree (MBA or MAcc)
•    Certified Public Accountant (CPA) 
•    Big Four or large corporate accounting experience 
•    Experience with disclosure management tools (Workiva/Wdesk) and ERP systems (SAP)
