Responsibilities

 

A partnership of Accsys Technologies and Eastman Chemical, Accoya USA is rapidly growing the North American market for Accoya.

 

Our team is the key to our success. We are building a premium level of service for our customers that will match the premium quality of the Accoya we produce. Accoya is a high-performance organic wood product that is extremely durable and stable, opening new opportunities for construction options to build sustainably.

 

The accountant will provide direct ownership of all financial processes in support of the Director of Finance, Accoya USA and our JV parent owners.

 

The accountant manages daily financial operations, monitors daily cash inflow/ outflow and forecast upcoming cash needs, ensures regulatory compliance, leads month-end closes, and reviews financial statements. They also analyze budgets & performance, take lead role with audits & filings and provide financial leadership in the organization.


Financial Reporting, General Ledger and Account Reconciliations


•    Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
•    Prepare and review and perform journal entries
•    Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
•    Reconcile bank accounts, inventory, fixed assets, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
•    Maintain supporting documentation for audit purposes. 
•    Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

 

Analysis, Budgeting, and Financial Leadership


•    Assist in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
•    Perform variance analysis comparing actual financial results to budgets and forecasts.
•    Identify financial discrepancies and recommend cost-reducing or revenue-enhancing strategies.
•    Participate in ERP or accounting system implementations and upgrades. 
•    Support management reporting and KPIs.
•    Review work prepared by staff accountants.
•    Train and mentor junior accounting team members
•    Improve financial acumen of the company through assistance and training opportunities

 

Audits, Regulatory and Tax Compliance 

 

•    Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
•    Gather documentation and coordinate workflows for external and internal audits.
•    Delegate tasks, review work, and provide guidance to staff accountants or bookkeepers. 
•    Ensure internal controls protect financial data integrity and comply with laws.
•    Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.
•    Develop and document accounting procedures.
•    Strengthen internal controls and mitigate financial risks.
•    Prepare local, state, and federal tax filings or regulatory documents. 
•    Prepare schedules for tax filings.
•    Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications

 

•    Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
•    5+ years of accounting experience.
•    Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and/or IFRS (International Accounting Standards)
•    Advanced Excel skills.
•    ERP experience (SAP, etc.)

•    Remains calm, performs effectively and behaves professionally in busy and stressful situations.
•    Open to coaching and training to continually improve on efficiency and personal growth
•    Proactively engage all team members continuously to support the work environment
•    Comfortable with improvement discussions and recognition efforts to support work force
•    Completion of various reports, communication, and record keeping in a prompt manner
