The Global Procurement Organization is posting the position of Alternate Methods of Supply (AMS) Manager, to supply quality materials and services at the lowest total cost to the company. AMS Managers serving regional and global businesses are important members of our team with responsibilities for the major raw materials which are the largest cost category for Eastman. This position will be located in Kingsport, Tennessee.  
Job Overview:


The AMS Manager develops and executes Alternate Methods of Supply (AMS) agreements globally as directed by Business and functional partners and manages AMS agreements with a total annual spend of $100-200 M.   The AMS Manager regularly interacts and negotiates with 3rd party providers and suppliers and maintains effective Business connects to understand current/future business needs and proactively provide AMS options.   In addition, the AMS Manager understands current/future business needs and proactively provides AMS options to business partners.  The AMS organization plays a key role in Eastman’s antitrust compliance as the primary interface in co-producer relationships.

  • Advanced negotiation skills to drive aggressive cost savings for the business. 
  • Understanding of Eastman products, streams and businesses 
  • Strategic mind-set to identify improvement opportunities, with balance of short term and long-term interests. 
  • Proactive and self-motivated in recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues and developing solutions. 
  • Proficient communication skills, verbal and written, in English. 
  • Strong analytical skills. 




  • Leads the development and implementation of AMS agreements 
  • Provides AMS agreement ownership over the life of the agreement.  
  • Provides anti-trust support to the businesses.  
  • Provides AMS expertise to various business teams and functions. 
  • Identifies and develops strategic third-party providers/partners for Eastman Chemical.  
  • Works with providers/partners and internal stakeholders in the development of new materials, products or services to meet business objectives.   


In fulfilling these responsibilities, the AMS Manager will work safely and support safe working practices both internally and externally.

Educational, Experience & Required Skill Set:  


  • Bachelor of Science or Arts required (MBAs and technical degrees are preferred) 
  • Successful, multi-year track record in negotiation roles 
  • Strong commercial acumen 
  • Demonstrates a global international mindset  
  • Strong bias for action  
  • Results oriented 
  • Ability to represent all aspects of Eastman’s position with suppliers/tollers and other external contacts.
