The Turnaround Manager provides leadership throughout all phases of a turnaround and is responsible for optimizing turnaround outcomes by executing the Zero-Incident project within budget, on schedule, and ensuring that the required operability is achieved. The Turnaround Manager is responsible for coordinating preparation for turnarounds in accordance with the turnaround playbook. Interaction with operations, maintenance, supply chain, engineering, HSES, and business, as well as senior management is a key component of the job requirements.

 

DESCRIPTION

  • Manage turnarounds at Kingsport site as assigned 
  • Overall
    • Ensure adherence to Eastman Turnaround Playbook for all assigned turnarounds
    • Ensure that full safety planning and communication is completed for all processes and personnel for the turnaround
    • Manage all phases of the turnaround in accordance with established schedules, budget, and customer requirements
    • Recognize critical issues and act on them to preclude turnaround problems
    • Work with turnaround and area personnel to monitor, report, and document the progress of work and provide feedback on budget and schedule deviations
    • Lead Turnaround Phase-Gate Reviews and provide regular updates to steering teams

 

  • Ahead of Turnaround
    • Lead development of Turnaround Charter to define criteria for success in terms of schedule, cost, and production
    • Identify core team members and establish steering teams
    • Identify people responsible for critical turnaround deliverables and ensure each person understands their responsibilities
    • Confirm steering team acceptance of milestone dates (e.g. scope freeze, planning complete, etc.)
    • Ensure worklist is developed and challenged
    • Facilitate scope scrub process aligned with Turnaround Charter objectives
    • Track completion of key deliverables (e.g., supplemental safety plan, checklists for recommissioning and start up, detailed work packages, execution strategy, etc.)
    • Ensure appropriate resourcing strategy is developed
      • Aligned with Turnaround Charter objectives (e.g., may target minimizing outage window over turnaround cost, or vice versa)
      • Developed on time per playbook to allow for sufficient preparation from internal and external execution forces
    • Support TA Scheduler in development of integrated and optimized schedule
    • Provide regular updates to steering team

    • During and After Turnaround Execution
      • Facilitate daily status update meetings
      • Provide daily status updates via email to steering team
      • Communicate performance metrics versus goals and estimates
      • Lead turnaround review meeting for future improvement

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must have 5 years’ experience in various aspects of the Operations, Maintenance, or Capital process or appropriate comparable experience.
  • Candidate should have direct experience with plant turnarounds.
  • Candidate must have outstanding communication and coordination skills and demonstrated team leadership skills.  
  • Must demonstrate a commitment to safety and be dedicated to executing incident-free turnarounds
