Develops pricing strategies to meet customers' needs while providing a profit for the organization. Determines core business costs of service in support of pricing/tariff development. Designs, implements and maintains pricing infrastructures. Evaluates effectiveness of pricing strategies and modifies pricing structures as needed. Provides reporting and documentation of pricing structures and serves as the point-of-contact for pricing inquiries from internal sales department, but not customers.

 

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Supports overall pricing processes across Specialty Plastics
    • Lead a group of Pricing Managers that are focused by region, industry, and market segment. Seven direct reports
    • The Group Leader has oversight at the Specialty Plastics level, looking across products, across industries, across regions, across customers, and across channels
    • Tracks costs across the Specialty Plastics business (major raw materials including paraxylene and wood pulp, energy, distribution, etc.)
    • Makes broad pricing recommendations to the Business Leadership Team based on changes and various future scenarios that impact margins and returns
  • Interfaces closely with the Pricing Center of Excellence, supporting corporate sponsored initiatives in an effort to improve overall pricing tools, etc. 
  • Provides oversight of pricing processes across Specialty Plastics to ensure compliance of all SOX controls
  • Drives improvement in pricing data and efficiencies of pricing processes across Specialty Plastics.  Examples include:
    • efficiencies in managing the monthly price forecast process and ensuring accuracy in price forecasts,
    • developing reports that show variable margin and other critical items by segment, UOA, etc.,
    • reconciliation with finance team to ensure consistency in communications
  • Responsibility for executing pricing strategy at the Specialty Plastics level
    • Evaluating and recommending pricing strategy across the business (e.g. position on formula prices)
    • Executing global price changes by segment and/or global increases across multiple segments
    • Tracking price metrics (i.e., price effectiveness, etc.)
  • Manages process for incentives and contracts across the business
    • Specialty Plastics had ~270 incentives in 2017 with that number increasing in 2018 to ~300 incentives
  • Development and coaching of pricing managers and analysts

    Required Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree required. MBA degree preferred
  • 8+ years prior experience in sales, marketing, product management and/or supply chain (or related discipline)
  • Complex project leadership experience and capability
  • Demonstrated experience in product management and/or pricing preferred
  • Strong business/financial acumen
