This posting is for a Polymer Chemist in Applications Innovation for Eastman Chemical Company located in Kingsport, Tennessee. The selected individual for this position will be responsible for:

 

• Executing effective experimentation involving lab scale preparation, characterization, and evaluation of polymers.

• Reducing application fitness-for-use criteria to fundamental polymer characteristics leading to design, preparation, and assessment of novel polymer compositions & architectures.

• Elucidating and recommending process conditions and parameters for successful scale-up and manufacturing of new and existing polymer compositions.

• Working in multidisciplinary teams (technology, manufacturing, business, marketing) to innovate and develop new commercial opportunities for Eastman.

• Communicating results through effective written documentation (E-notebook, internal reports, etc.) and oral presentations.

 

 

Required Degree:   Ph.D. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Polymer Chemistry, Macromolecular Science, Materials Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.

• Demonstrated practical knowledge of polymer synthesis, mechanisms in organic chemistry, and laboratory experimentation techniques.

• Effective working knowledge of structure - property relationships and polymer characterization techniques.

• Broad interests and willingness to take on undefined challenges.

• General working knowledge of applications, processing methods, formulations and additives for engineering plastics, films, coatings and adhesives
