The Additives and Functional Products Division is searching for a PhD Chemical Engineer specializing in Heterogeneous Catalysis or Reaction Engineering.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Lead and execute process development projects using modeling and experimental techniques in support of our polymer areas

•  Leverage expertise and fundamental knowledge to deliver breakthrough processes and/or products

•  Communicate clearly project progress and accomplishments verbally and in writing

•  Actively participate in multifunctional project teams to execute projects

•  Apply engineering and scientific fundamentals to existing and new areas of interest

•  Document discoveries in technical reports and invention disclosures

•  Effectively communicate ideas and data with other Eastman groups

•  Ability to work at the lab, pilot, and commercial scale  


Education and Experience:

• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Heterogeneous Catalysis or Reaction Engineering specialization preferred

• 5+ years’ experience preferred

• Manufacturing experience preferred

 The candidate must possess:

• Fundamental knowledge of polymer and/or small molecule process technology or have a high potential to develop this level of expertise

• Ability to work in a team and contribute both as a team leader and as a team member

• Ability to work independently

• Initiative in looking for new process technology opportunities

• Previous project leadership in an industrial setting is preferred

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Broad interests and willingness to take on relatively undefined challenges
