This is a full-time position based in Kingsport and will report to the Director, Global Sourcing

 

Objectives and responsibilities:

  • Coach, mentor and support the members of the sourcing teams and One Eastman team
  • Responsible for the One Eastman process in the Global Sourcing and Procurement (GSP) organization that includes commodity/category waves aligned to the 4-step procurement process
    • Lead a team of 2 transformation leads, with the possibility for the team to grow in the future
    • Provide training and guidance to 3 Hyderabad-based market analysts (indirect reporting responsibility), with the possibility for the team to grow globally in the future
    • Lead cross-functional teams in challenging situations and build consensus
    • Ensure that the 4-step procurement process is used to develop effective category strategies and achieve savings objectives
    • Structure sourcing problems using intuition, creativity, and hypotheses and use that structure to prioritize and drive end-results
  • Build individual and organization capabilities to deliver fact based, multiple option sourcing strategies that enable long-term value creation, institutionalizing strategic sourcing principles within procurement
    • Ensure category strategies encompass both price and non-price savings levers (e.g., design, utilization)
    • Lead the continued development and usage of the strategic sourcing process to build out identified category strategies
  • Lead the raw material forecasting process
    • Track global macro-economic trends and outlooks through continued engagement with external consultants, industry experts and relevant literature (i.e. Wood-Mackenzie, Oxford Economics)
    • Coordinate monthly raw material forecasting activities across the GSP organization including the WD-1 meeting, forecast input sharing across sourcing and procurement managers, advising the organization of approaching deadlines, ensuring a final forecast is entered for all designated raw materials and providing monthly raw material forecast data to Finance for financial reviews
    • Coordinate quarterly raw material review activities with the Executive Team including scheduling meetings, coordinating the presentation, issuing pre-reads, tracking action items and providing follow-up, including responding to Executive Team requests
    • Coordinate annual GSP SQ (Strategic Quantification) forecasting with Finance
    • As needed, engage with business teams to highlight trends in raw material markets in selected customer meetings
       

 

Professional:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience within multiple functional areas (preferred background would include a sourcing manager, pricing manager, product manager, etc.)
  • Previous exposure to purchasing, sourcing or commercial experience such as contract negotiations, market assessments, strategy frameworks (e.g. Porter analysis, SWOT analysis, etc.)
  • Project and/or program management background is helpful
     

     

Technical:

  • Strong analytics and problem-solving skills with the ability to draw insights from data quickly, develop hypotheses and rapidly iterate options
  • Strong content knowledge of the 4-step procurement process or other similar frameworks (e.g. 12 choice EBME framework)  
  • Strong market knowledge of how market changes influence pricing and capacity in a commodity market
  • Advanced knowledge of negotiation tactics and techniques, including preparation and conduct of negotiations
  • Ability to convey information and ideas to different audiences in a variety of situations
