LSE (Limited Service Employee) employment is limited to 1300 hours in a rolling 12-month period and does not have benefits associated with the classification.


Role Description:

The project manager position is an individual contributor role that is focused on leading projects tied to strategic corporate initiatives with primarily site/organizational impact.  The role requires a desire to continue improving project management skills as well as problem solving methodologies.  The role requires initiative and a bias for appropriate action but the individual will be mentored by senior project managers as needed.  As a leader of teams utilizing cross-functional team resources, this role offers an individual exposure to various areas and processes within Eastman.


This role requires good interpersonal skills in order to communicate with personnel from individual contributors to senior leaders.  The ability to relay difficult or sensitive information tactfully is often necessary.  The role requires a keen sense of discretion with regard to project information.



• Execute change events in support of corporate strategic initiatives while being mentored to the extent needed by senior project managers or supervision.
• Learn and practice problem-solving methodologies, process playbooks, change management tools, etc.
• Grow skills for project planning to include proper scope definition, resource allocations, scheduling and adjustments to meet objectives.
• Consult with project sponsors on requirements, keys to success, and execution strategies during project definition phases.
• Grow skills to monitor progress, communicate project status and issues to team members and all stakeholders.
• Intervene as needed to correct deviations, deal with issues and surface/mitigate conflict.
• Seek resources and assistance to overcome technical, cultural, and functional barriers to progress.
• Communicate the overall objectives, project progress, recommended improvements and results to stakeholders.
• Build higher level knowledge of Eastman’s functions, processes, culture, customers, etc.

• Diverse interpersonal skills (finesse, tact, negotiation, confidentiality)
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field
• 2+ years experience within Eastman (preferred)
• Project leadership experience (preferred)
• Training and use of formal project management methodologies such as Capital, EBME, Waterfall, Agile, etc. (preferred)
• Training and use of formal problem solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc. (preferred)
