The Project Manager V is an individual contributor focused on leading, facilitating and participating in strategic corporate initiatives. Working closely with Executive Team members, their leadership teams, or special project teams, this role provides guidance, direction, and leadership on projects that carry significant risk and complexity with enterprise impact.

This role requires an individual with stellar interpersonal skills, breadth of expertise in project and change management methodologies and the ability to work independently.  Due to the cross-functional nature of these initiatives, expertise gathered in multiple previous Eastman roles often hastens and facilitates successful outcomes.  This project manager must often deal with conflict, conflicting organizational policies, and individuals with high stakes in the project outcome.  Confidentiality is compulsory.



  • Serve on ET/VP sanctioned teams exploring business strategy and delivering strategic options
  • Provide the outside, unbiased input for decision making
  • Execute significant risk change events in support of key corporate strategic initiatives
  • Be “the expert” in an area such as acquisitions, integrations, divestitures, site shutdowns, change management, developing new business processes, strategic planning, etc
  • Teach project fundamentals classes within Eastman
  • Conduct risk management exercises to identify and rank risks, develop mitigation plans and make recommendations
  • Take on an active leadership role within the team helping to set strategy, prioritize projects and advocate on behalf of the team
  • Mentor less experienced project managers.  Co-lead with a mentee or delegate small scope assignments of large projects
  • Identify/develop new tools and methods for project management
  • Improve existing project management tools by incorporating learnings from project assignments
  • Examples of projects for this role include:
    • Lead large multi-business acquisitions, mergers and divestitures
    • Lead strategy effort for global initiatives
    • Investigate potential sale, restructuring of a business or site, or joint ventures
    • Increase EFO for a business
    • Root cause failure analysis for missed opportunities to large corporate customers or significant corporate events
    • Develop scorecard, measures and tracking for personal performance commitments of an executive team member

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field
  • 7+ years’ experience in an environment focused on generating results and leading projects (preferred)
  • Project leadership for large, complex, cross-functional projects with VP or higher leadership (preferred)
  • Experience in two or more business, functional, or manufacturing areas (desired)
  • Training and use of formal project management methodologies such as Capital, EBME, Waterfall, Agile, etc. (desired)
  • Training and use of formal problem-solving methodologies such as Six Sigma, Lean, etc. (desired)
