ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Commercial Digital Manager role at Eastman requires strong leadership and relationship skills, outstanding communications capabilities, and the ability to perform in a dual advocacy job (advocating for the business and IT).   The CDM must be able to develop a digital roadmap that aligns with and enables the business strategy and the corporate strategy.  The CDM must be able to manage the engagement between IT and multiple business organizations, encourage and drive new and innovative approaches, identify and satisfy the IT needs of business, and ensure that IT resources are both resilient and responsive to business’s' needs.  The CDM serves as the digital change agent for their business. 

 

  • Primary Digital leader and IT point of contact for a business organization.
  • Member of the Leadership Team of the business – Reports to IT but matrix to Business Area they support - Incentives align with business & IT objectives
  • Leads and develops an organization with talent that bridges IT and the Business they support.
  • Drives the Digital agenda for the business that aligns with the business’s short and long-term goals but contributes beyond that.
  • Responsible for the health of the Digital Landscape for the business including the correct integration of Processes, Data and Technology
  • Defines in coordination with Business and rest of IT – Strategic digital direction, Roadmaps, Business processes, Future Application Architecture and Future Data Architecture
  • Manages digital portfolio and budget decisions for the business helping define the correct focus and prioritization
  • Ensures alignment of Corporate, Business, and IT strategy in support of corporate goals.
  • Accountable for the success of Digital projects including installation, adoption and value
     

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships– ensuring short and long-term functional and business strategies are aligned to corporate strategy
  • Obtain and maintain the trust of the business partners for confidential matters
  • Ensure collaboration of Service and Enterprise Architects across service process streams (internal- IT, external- Business).
  • Understand business processes to anticipate unmet business needs or regulatory issues and recommend IT products and services to improve the business.
  • Assist the business in defining value based or risk mitigation business cases for requested IT projects and services. Create and prioritize new IT projects into the IT project portfolio.
  • Promote IT innovation and digitization within the business organization informing and demonstrating how advanced IT solutions can solve complex business problems.
  • Serve as advocate and liaison for all IT needs.  Dual advocacy of unmet needs versus awareness of emerging opportunities, threats and issues related to technology and digital strategy.
  • Determine organization design to align with corporate strategy and vision.  Assess staffing level of service managers and quality.
  • Engage and consult with variety of technical and subject matter resources (internal and external) whose services may be needed to satisfy business’s needs
  • Manage and prioritize IT demand to ensure that IT resources are being applied to the most valuable projects or those that mitigate risk
  • Assist in the development and delivery of targeted and/or company-wide IT communications concerning difficult and/or highly technical concepts
  • Engage with other service teams and relationship managers to capture synergies
  • Support major investment initiatives

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college or university is required, Computer Science major or minor preferred. MBA is also preferred.

Experience: Commercial Digital Manager requires a certain level of maturity in both understanding the overall capabilities of Eastman’s IT division and in dealing with people.  Individual should have held positions with exposure to various businesses/functions (Required).  It is not an entry-level position for a college new-hire.  The role is one of dual-advocacy which can be challenging to even experienced IT professionals.  Therefore, 8+ years of related experience is preferred.
