The role of the Engineer provides safety services and support for the Eastman Kingsport Site (EKS) and other Eastman Chemical Company sites upon request.  This role requires extensive interface with manufacturing personnel.

 

Services include, but are not limited to, all the basic loss prevention analyses fundamentals for manufacturing operations including:

  • Process hazard analyses
  • Non-reactive relief system evaluation
  • Consequence assessment and modeling (fire, explosion and toxic exposure)
  • Layers of protection analyses (LOPA)

 

Support includes, but is not limited to:

  • Serve as Process Safety Expert or Plant Protection Representative on Operations-led safety studies/reviews (e.g. HET, SSR, etc.)
  • Assess facilities and projects to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance and risk management
  • Provide technical support to the Property Insurance programs
  • Provide consulting for day to day issues within their areas of process safety expertise
  • Conducts and review accident investigations for catastrophic events including participation in the accident aftermath
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of current policies, regulations, and applicable standards

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing setting with broad understanding of operational needs and issues across the site.
  • Must have good interpersonal, communication, and team skills.  This position will interact with personnel in all organizations.
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Good collaboration and consultation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within budget and schedule
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required related to client contact, documentation, and communication of results/recommendations
  • Strong customer focus with demonstrated ability to solve complex issues or problems
  • Prefer knowledge of US Occuplational Health and Safety Administration, Internal Process Safety Standards and ACC Responsible Care codes
