Role Description

 

This role requires the development of knowledge and expertise to help resolve difficult regulatory challenges and initiatives for the Eastman product portfolio. The role’s focus is primarily on the REACH and CLP regulation in the European Union, as well as other similar REACH legislation in Turkey, China & Korea, etc.

 

This position will be working closely with the Regulatory Affairs Manager EMEA and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that EMN products, which are developed, manufactured, and marketed for a wide range of applications, meet, and exceed the applicable legislation with the ultimate objective to achieve and maintain safe use of our products in the value chain.

 

Active participation in international discussions on regulatory topics is an essential part of the job. Strong communicative skills enable the PSRA group to understand the regulatory solutions that he /she provides. Further, chosen candidate (he or she) will be involved in the regulatory compliancy and product stewardship aspects of our products to our customers. Ability to maintain confidentiality is imperative for this role.

Key responsibilites

  • Maintain hazard classification, safety assessments and/or other relevant changes of EMN dossier submissions in IUCLID to ECHA (European Chemicals Agency), official bodies of individual EU Member States PCN (Poison Centers) and SCIP in accordance with the CLP Regulation.
  • Perform, interpret, and communicate EU regulatory impact assessments for all business units.
  • Help manage all incoming messages and actions for all Eastman Legal Entities set up in REACH IT
  • Communicate relevant information to the Global PSRA team, relevant stakeholders, or authorities for ALL registration of Eastman products in EU, Turkey, China, Korea etc.
  • Communicate new and changed tonnages of EMN registrations to Global Compliance Systems Data Management (GCSDM) for SVT tracking.
  • Submit relevant information for the notification of Eastman products under the UK REACH.
  • Support in proper risk management measures on chemical risk assessments of EMN registrations.
  • Manage communications with consortia management/consultants on EMN registrations.
  • Support on Exposure Scenarios of mixtures and provide the Hazard Communication Department with the relevant information for the preparation of extended Safety Data Sheets
  • Assist Product Stewardship Inquiries team in answering REACH related questions.
  • Any other Product stewardship and regulatory affairs related tasks that may be assigned.
  • Expected to have a general overview of what’s happening in all EMN business units.
  • Develop SOPs, new tools, and initiatives to improve overall efficiency of the teams’ processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • A minimum of a college/university bachelor’s degree in/related to science
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

The candidate should have a scientific background and an affinity with legal processes. The preferred candidate would have experience with interpreting regulatory requirements. The minimum requirements are:

 

  • Basic knowledge in toxicology, crop protection and animal nutrition are a plus.
  • Demonstrable achievements in bringing innovative ideas.
  • Independent and able to lead projects.
  • Experience working with SAP, IUCLID and CHESAR is an advantage.
  • A proven ability to network with colleagues, especially in remote locations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Experience with and knowledgeable in a multitude of regulations in other REACH programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, in particular strong in regulatory writing. You’re a confident communicator, with a positive - somewhat scientific - mindset, Self-motivated and takes initiative in seeking solutions to problems.
  • Enthusiastic to learn and be trained in new topics / skill sets
