Within the Ghent South Site, the largest Polyvinyl Butyral polymer processing site in the world, we currently have a vacancy for a TECHNICAL MANAGER with strong leadership and people skills

 

This is the Role

As technical Manager, you will be accountable for Leading the Engineering department - Process and Project Engineers (12 reports) and the Quality Services department (16 reports). 

The technical Manager is part of the Site Leadership Team and reports directly to the Site Director.

We are seeking a highly motivated leader who leverages existing knowledge and experience to quickly pick up new skills and knowledge. This individual should have experience working cross-functionally with an ability to quickly build relationships. This individual should also have a demonstrated history of success leading complex projects, able to be self-guided and proactive to take initiative.

Your main responsibilities:

  • People development and coaching, challenge and promote new talent to future leadership.
  • All Engineering Activities for the site Ghent, the operational and process support for 3 extrusion lines and 2 offline, including
    • organizing and planning of product trials.
    • direct supervision of project teams in place
  • Manage the Cost Centre budget to targets. Responsible for budgeting, tracking and forecasting of costs and headcount
  • Investment plan for the site Ghent on the short and long term (x + 5).
  • Management representative for ISO/IATF16949 Quality System.
  • Development and management of Operational Excellence (continuous improvement) toolbox, techniques and projects.
  • Optimize systems to realize operational excellence & quality.

 Required background & qualifications

  • Master degree Engineering (Civil or Master in Engineering) with management or team lead experience.
  • Candidate(s) should have a minimum of 10 years experience in a leading position in a technical or operational environment.
  • Have a proven track record in successfully leading a technical team.
  • Familiar with coaching and developing young talent.
  • Familiar with WCPM, Lean, Six Sigma, 5S,…
  • Familiar with working in an international context.
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written – Fluent in Dutch and English
  • Collaborative mind-set: proactively establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Good analytical skills, ability to analyse, summarize and present facts and findings
  • Excellent organization and planning skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Flexible in dealing with the vast amount of projects, able to cope with the frequent turnover of young engineers in the pool due to growth opportunities.
