Within the Manufacturing department, we currently have a vacancy in Ghent South (Belgium) for a CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT ENGINEER

This is the Role

As continuous improvement engineer you will be responsible for the improvement of Saflex manufacturing processes, products and services. The purpose of this position is to help build a problem-solving organization and step away from the existing fire-fighting mentality to bring the overall Ghent manufacturing performance to the next level. In order to achieve this goal, you will  effectively prioritize continuous improvement projects and study, develop and implement improved processes using operational excellence techniques. Finally, you will contribute to the cross-departmental and worldwide transfer of knowledge by sharing best practices of the implemented improvements.

Your main responsibilities:

  • identify and prioritize improvement project within Saflex Manufacturing by evaluating existing chronic performance deficiencies
  • analyze, develop and implement continuous improvement projects within Saflex Manufacturing
  • use operational excellence techniques (e.g. 6-sigma, lean, FMEA,…) to pro-actively improve existing processes
  • prepare educational material and present this information to various groups  
  • maintain right to operate conditions in the Saflex process to assure the continuity of the Ghent operations
  • cultivate networks with people across a variety of functions and locations within the organization
  • are part of the Saflex Manufacturing team and will enroll in our on-call system

An autonomic, entrepreneurial and ambitious person with an operational focus. You have a bias for action and are motivated to learn and use operational excellence techniques. A team player with excellent communication skills, who communicates easily and efficiently to others. You are comfortable in leading improvement projects and provide sound decisions based upon team interactions.


Required background & qualifications

  • Master in engineering or science who is looking for a job in Manufacturing
  • Min. 2 years of experience and/or knowledge in Operational Excellence is considered as a strong asset
  • Fluent in Dutch and English
