This position is based at the Ghent manufacturing site and reports functionally to the EMEA HSES Manager and geographically to the Site Manager Ghent. You will have 2 employees, Safety officer and Environmental coordinator, reporting directly to you in the HSES-department and you will be part of the leadership team at site.

Core job responsibilities and tasks:

o Lead our continues improvement of our HSES-performance on site:
 Build a sustainable safety culture and act as specialist in the field while being accessible for internal customers.
 Develop and deploy Functional Plans and review on a regular basis;
 Drive to ensure completion of HSES corrective action plans;
 Drive to ensure compliance with HSES laws and regulations and with Corporate HSES Policies and Guiding Principles;
 Maintain and drive continual improvement of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and OHSAS 18001;
o Review new regulations and initiatives and communicate implications to Gent organization, business and corporate;
o Building relations with the stakeholders
 Maintain high level of communication with EMEA HSES Manager, Corporate HSES and other support functions as needed;
 Translate and deploy the EMEA Region vision and guidelines to the local Belgian situation.
 Participate as needed on corporate assessments;
 Act as primary contact person for authorities;
 Act as an advocate for HSES issues and as the primary liaison between the Region & Gent;
 Establish good relationships with unions;
 Advisory member of  CPBW;
o Responsible for the ‘security access-team’;


o Bachelor/Master of Science in engineering or similar
o Minimum 2 years of experience in Operations;
o Level 1 Safety Advisor;
o Additional Safety studies;
o Expertise with HSES laws and regulations;

o Change manager;
o Good communication skills in both Dutch and English.
