The Role


As an Export team lead you will be based in Ghent Belgium and you will play a key role in helping the company maintain and develop its strong expertise in the area of export formalities. We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic individual with a customer mindset who has gained experience in the area of export documentation and customs and trade. The export team lead must exhibit a compliance based mindset and have an ability to understand, translate and follow complex internal and external procedures. Working as part of a small team, this role has a strong focus on ensuring that the company conducts is export business within full compliance of applicable legislation and laws and supported through the ERP system of SAP, next to leading the team.



  • Leads a team of export specialists and handles the day 2 day operational needs of several shipping points and several businesses
  • Process mapping and standardization of all export documentation flows (ocean, air, rail and truck) in all EMEA plants. Implement best practices.
  • Process alignment: move doc pack activities which are not yet handled by export team/forwarder to one of these teams. Assess impact in case doc packs need to transfer from one country to another.
  • Operationally accountable for the performance of Logistics third parties and export team.
  • Handle customer complaints related to documentation pack activities and implement process adjustments (export team/forwarder) to avoid recurrence.
  • Check the correctness of Service Level Indicators (first time right) and discuss the outcome with Customer Service Representatives (CSR) and their team leads.
  • First point of contact for third parties, export team and CSR’s in case of operational doc pack related irregularities.
  • First point of contact for the chamber of commerce in Belgium.
  • Collaborates with Logistics procurement to discuss operational issues from shipping companies (correctness BL’s and BL release)


•   Master- or Bachelor degree in Logistics or related domains.
•   Excellent interpersonal skills, to support, guide and influence team members
•   Experience in Logistics and Export documentation is a plus
•   Ownership and accountability are key to this role
•    Excellent communication skills, full English proficiency; Dutch is a definite plus.
