Industrial Hygienist Job Description 


Eastman Performance Films is seeking a dedicated Industrial Hygienist to ensure our employees' occupational health and support site safety programs. The Industrial Hygienist role will be responsible for implementing and maintaining policies and programs to mitigate health related risks. The IH will conduct training and presentations to ensure employee awareness of occupational health developments, lead and perform exposure monitoring, and assist with implementing programs, policies, and procedures to measure and reduce employees’ exposure to physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic stress factors. This position is for all Performance Films locations in the Martinsville & Henry County area. 

Industrial Hygienist Responsibilities:

  • Industrial hygiene assessment for solvents, dusts, mist, fumes, and gasses. Write technical reports and provide recommendations as necessary. Maintain site records in corporate IH database. 
  • Evaluate PPE needs across the site maintain active approved PPE lists.
  • Ergonomic evaluations for office and industrial settings. Manage the data collected in the site’s ergonomic management system (Velocity Humantech)
  • Conduct and/or schedule and track quantitative respirator fit testing and track new hire/annual testing. 
  • Conduct periodic noise monitoring. Schedule annual audiograms and follow-up exams as necessary.
  • New Chemical Reviews for Safety/IH concerns
  • MOC review for industrial hygiene issues/concerns
  • New Hire Orientation topics: Process Safety Ground Rules, Zero Incident Mindset and Hazcom
  • Provide assistance as needed to operations (suspect ACM, noise, ergonomics, odors, mold, etc)
  • Site contact for ISN( contractor qualification vendor). Review contractor written compliance programs and/or issue exemptions as appropriate.
  • Review IH written programs and update annually.
  • Maintain IH equipment including required calibrations.
  • Maintain site SDS database. Update as necessary. 
  • Creating and executing studies to monitor and assess employees' exposure to health risks, and to measure effectiveness of occupational health programs, policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining current knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation
     

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification preferred but not required.
  • 5+ years work experience in a similar role.
  • Proficient knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient computer skills.
  • Outstanding people skills.
  • Proficient organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
