The Role

The Sourcing Manager is based in Rotterdam (NL) or Merelbeke (BE) and is responsible for the Animal nutrition and Adhesives Businesses. The Sourcing Manager leads purchasing and supply management activities for one or more categories of spend, with the goal of achieving significant initial cost reductions, while maintaining/ improving product quality and supplier service levels. Applying 4-step procurement framework to strategic categories and driving all aspect of strategic procurement efforts, you directly control the results achieved with a strong intervention power in case of underperforming results. This position requires you to work closely with key stakeholders in member organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective cost reduction strategies and implementation plans.


In fulfilling these roles, the Sourcing Manager requires the following proven capabilities:

  • Advanced negotiation skills to drive aggressive cost savings for the business
  • Strategic mind-set to identify improvement opportunities, with balance of short term and long-term interests
  • Proactive and self-motivated in recognizing needs, solving problems, anticipating issues and developing solutions.
  • Proficient communication skills, verbal and written, in English and preferably Dutch
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills


Other responsibilities include: 

  • Own knowledge of market and provide insights to commercial teams around supply, demand, and pricing trends in material markets to support decision making
  • Capture real savings
  • Conduct supplier selection and negotiation process
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies for key spend categories
  • Track performance within each spend category and define impact
  • Monitor strategy implementation and contract compliance
  • Drive best practices
  • Monitor material market for changes
  • Uphold internal and external policies, regulations and laws
  • Lead cross-functional teams to develop and implement category strategies


Education, Experience & Required Skills 

  • This role requires the ability to think strategically and execute methodically. You have a passion for reducing cost and possess exceptional negotiation, project management and problem-solving skills with a strong bias for action. The successful candidate is likely to have more than 10 years of successful track-record in Procurement, preferably within the Chemicals, FMGG or Automotive industry.
  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree from an internationally recognized university in combination with an MBA would be preferred for this role.
