This posting is for a Group Leader in the Performance and Electronic Films Technology Division located in Canoga Park, CA. The Group Leader will lead the Application and Process Development team to investigate, develop, and implement new and improved manufacturing processes for improved quality, productivity and cost as well as commercializing new products and support capital projects.  The team’s work supports the Performance Films business with a focus on vacuum coated film products across multiple application spaces.  The Group Leader is responsible for coaching and retaining qualified staff that contribute to division and company goals. He or she ensures the highest quality performance through feedback, training, and development of their personnel.  The Group Leader is also responsible for the alignment of the strategic direction of the group with that of the division and for understanding the associated business and technology strategy.  She or he works to communicate and execute the Technology strategy for the division and set expectations for group members. The Group Leader shall champion and drive project execution, critical thinking, problem solving and innovation speed on the group’s deliverables.


Major Responsibilities include:

• Maintain an effective safety and wellness culture including driving auditing, training and general awareness.  Lead by example through active participation in department Health, Safety, Environment, and Security (HSES) programs.

• Coach and develop direct reports by (a) ensuring each direct report understands their alignment with the business and their impact on short and long term financial success; (b) utilizing the performance management process; (c) expect and reward exceptional performance; and (d) utilizing the disciplinary process when appropriate

• Know their direct reports’ strengths, development needs and career interests

• Understand the technology, business and asset strategies, and create and implement a vision for the group to support it.  This includes initiatives for process and productivity improvements and capital projects.

• Lead the establishment of effective cross-functional relationships within and across manufacturing and R&D sites

• Define clear, prioritized workplans for team members in accordance with company needs, and monitor progress of the plans

• Execute technology strategy to support the business; identify and execute initiatives for new process improvements and productivity initiatives

• Attract, engage, develop and retain the talent needed to provide people capable of implementing current and future programs

• Actively participate in the Site Leadership Team to support improvements and success at the site


Job Requirements / Qualifications:

• BS or higher degree in Applied Physics, other Science or Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with process improvement experience

• Minimum 5 years of industrial experience is required

• Prior experience in a people leadership role is required
