Description:  The HTF Manufacturing Manager leads a First Line Supervisor with more than 20 Operators and multiple Engineers to safely synthesize numerous Therminol and Process fluids at the Anniston site.

Position Summary:

The HTF Manufacturing Manager position is primarily responsible for safe and reliable operation of the Therminol manufacturing facility at the Anniston site.  The facility synthesizes multiple products at the same time in various operating configurations.  This role is considered a Second Level Supervisory role and is part of the Site Leadership Team. 

The HTF Manufacturing Manager position is also responsible for the continued, long-term growth and reliability of the facility by promoting and supporting a culture of continuous improvement in safety, productivity, quality, customer commitments, personnel and system management.

In addition to manufacturing leadership at the primary site, this position also corresponds with the other Therminol site in Newport, Wales to share technical and reliability learnings.

 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Lead a Zero-Incident Culture, with continued focus on Process Safety Ground Rules, Process Safety Management and Responsible Care activities.
  • Lead the HTF Manufacturing Team to meet the production commitments and operational effectiveness goals.
  • Work with the Business and Supply Chain organizations to schedule production plans for the various products.
  • Drive continuous improvements in operating discipline (EODs) and reliability improvements (OEE).
  • Member of the Site Leadership Team and lead/support various site initiatives and teams.
  • Member of the Site Quality Team in support of the ISO 9001:2015 certification.
  • Manage area costs to meet the CSP goals as well as lead/coordinate cost improvement activities.  
  • Coach and develop direct reports using the PMP system to clarify responsibilities, understand career goals, provide opportunities for growth and reward exceptional performance.
  • Actively involved in hiring and onboarding processes which include: recruiting, screening, interviewing, mentoring and coaching activities.
     

Skills and Knowledge necessary to perform the position:

  • Experience leading individuals and/or teams to achieve goals and make continuous improvements.
  • Knowledge of standard manufacturing programs and processes is required (PSM, safe work practices, environmental requirements, RC 14001, ISO 9001, PHAs, MOCs, OEE, EODs, security, capital, cost reporting)
  • Experience with reactors, distillation columns, boilers, furnaces, pumps and similar processing equipment is preferred.
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, training is preferred.
  • Good organizational and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to solicit input and support others at various levels in the organization.
  • Experience with integrated software (SAP, PI, Apex, etc.) as well as other general computer software programs (Word, Excel, Project, etc.).
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing process data in response to upsets and abnormal conditions.
  • Prior leadership roles preferred.
    Qualifications:
     
    Required Education      
    Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution is required for this role.  Mechanical, Electrical or similar Engineering discipline from an accredited institution will be considered.  A professional engineer’s license is preferred.

 

Required Experience

Seven-plus years of experience in the chemical, petro-chemical or pulp and paper plant with demonstrated leadership and success in a high-performance culture.
