Maintenance Area Manager

Job Summary  


The Maintenance Area Manager reports to the Manager of Maintenance and Engineering and directs the maintenance, servicing, repair, installation and replacement of all equipment, buildings, and grounds necessary for the continuity of all manufacturing operations for the site. The maintenance functions includes: mechanical, instrument/electrical, analytical maintenance, reliability, mechanical integrity, power distribution, control systems, facilities maintenance, field construction of capital projects, and contractor management.


Additional Scope / Responsibilities


The Area Manager’s scope of work and responsibilities may also include, but is not limited to:


  • Manage and lead the Maintenance Department to ensure the plant is properly maintained
  • Establish safety expectations for the department to ensure a safe and healthy place to work for all employees and contractors
  • Supervises a staff of Reliability Engineers and Team Manager responsible for Routine Maintenance execution
  • Responsible for the growth and development of all employees within organization
  • Improve maintenance organizational effectiveness, streamline the organization, and establish an efficient workflow
  • Increase reliability of systems and equipment to improve overall manufacturing unit reliability
  • Manage and report all maintenance costs for the site
  • Develop, implement, and manage turnaround and maintenance budgets
  • Continually look for opportunities to reduce routine maintenance costs, including optimization of Eastman craftsman/contractor balance
  • Institutionalize Key Performance Metrics. Raise the bar as stretch goals become normal
  • Maintain an effective department Quality Policy
  • Maintain effective communications with Manufacturing to ensure all business objectives are met with respect to maintenance
  • Ensure the Maintenance Department supports HSES Dept to meet all local, state and federal regulations


Must meet the following:  

  • Bachelor (BS) degree in Mechanical (preferred) or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • MBA desirable
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Previous supervision experience
  • Willing and expected to eventually relocate
  • Willing to travel, as needed


Must be able to meet the following requirements:

  • Able to work in United States without sponsorship
  • Pass a background check to acquire a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Utilize typical personal protective equipment without difficulty
  • Able to physically access equipment throughout the plant on multiple levels
