This posting is for a Rheology Technician in the Advanced Materials - Interlayers Technology Division located in Springfield, MA.  Rheology plays a central role in the handling and performance of safety glass interlayers: as such, the successful candidate will support the development of next generation Acoustic, Head Up Display, Structural glazing and other interlayers designed for use in the automotive and architectural markets.  Candidates are expected to provide the highest quality data, communicate effectively and function in an innovative, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.

 

Job responsibilities:

• Primary responsibility: provide reliable rheological data in support of various programs in AMI-Technology.

• Provide other types of mechanical testing as needed (e.g. three point bending).

• Calibrate, operate and maintain rheological instruments according to IATF/ISO procedures.

• Develop strong working relationships with our lead scientists to advance new product and process development.

• Review and write test methods and technical reports.

Develop new rheological characterization methods for interlayers and safety glass

Establish and maintain a world class rheological characterization laboratory

 

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Science or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred

• A detail oriented scientist committed to providing the highest quality data.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
