The Quality Manager will develop, implement, and manage Quality and Operational Excellence programs, policies, and initiatives for the site. Responsibilities include driving improvements in quality and operational excellence culture, managing the Quality Control team and ownership of Quality Management Systems.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive commitment to “All in for Safety” principles throughout the Quality Organization
  • Drive site-wide quality, operational excellence and continuous improvements initiatives
  • Proactively seek market insight from customers through collaboration with TSAD, Technology and manufacturing to innovate and build a strong partnership in achieving value growth based on improvements and quality awareness
  • Proactively seek market insight from Worldwide AMI Quality leaders and various functional leaders to establish best practices across all sheet and resin plants
  • Utilize effective leadership skills to build a highly motivated and cohesive team environment
  • Responsible for Quality Management Systems, including site audit program including oversight of internal and external audit process, managing corrective actions, facilitating management reviews and training employees on systems and activities
  • Act as Management/Customer Representative to assist with Customer complaints/requests and troubleshoot process upsets
  • Provide on-call coverage to quality department
  • Serve as backfill for the QC Lab Team Manager as needed
  • Develop and lead employee team through positive employee/labor relations, staff training and development, grievance mediation and contract negotiations, etc.
  • Utilize effective relationship building and collaboration skills to establish open and trusting work relationships with union leaders

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry or related science degree is required.
  • At least 3 years of experience driving quality, operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. 2 years of managing quality systems is preferred.
  • Must possess demonstrated competencies in the areas of leadership, technical/process/innovation skills, and written/oral/interpersonal communications
  • Ability to contribute effectively as an individual and within a team
  • High degree of initiative and ability to plan, prioritize, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to task and ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments in a high activity environment
  • Excellent commitment to task and building strong teamwork
  • Six Sigma/Lean/Operational Excellence/Continuous Improvement experience is required
  • ISO 9001 experience is required; IATF 16949 experience is preferred
  • CQA or CQE is preferred
  • Labware and SAP experience is preferred
  • Willingness and ability to work in a hands-on environment
  • Initiative, drive, pro-active and attention to detail with a sense of urgency
