Quality Assurance Manager

We are seeking to hire a Quality Assurance Manager for our Performance Films division.  Eastman is leading manufacturer and marketer of high performance window films and paint protection films, in Martinsville, VA. It is one of the largest and most integrated window and performance-coated film manufacturing sites in the world.

The Quality Assurance Manager will develop, implement, and manage total quality policies, programs and initiatives for the Martinsville, Virginia site. Based on data analysis, the QA Manager is responsible for ensuring the formulation, execution, and management of all quality related corrective action plans and the prevention of quality problems. Utilizing continuous improvement process methodologies to assist in improving manufacturing efficiencies and product quality, the QA Manager has the authority to define and identify quality problems, initiate corrective action, and prevent release of non-conforming products.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, driving improvements in quality culture, advancing improvements in the customer complaint process and a new internal incident process with improved quality metrics. The role will work closely with functional partners such as the Business, Manufacturing, Research & Development, Technical Service, Supply Chain, and others to assure products are defect-free and meet customer expectations.


  • Execute projects in a safe manner and persistence in follow-up to correct known safety problems. Ensure safety and environmental compliance within direct reports, organization and manufacturing site.
  • Lead direct reports to ensure that quality expectations are achieved for our products and drive the Quality Culture and Guiding Principles with the team and across the broader organization
  • Coordinate regional Complaint Handling system to improve customer satisfaction, and continually improve quality, with a sense of urgency


  • Ensure that products comply with quality standards and are acceptable for our customers in all regions. Manage critical-to-quality (CTQs) specifications and align with customer needs.
  • Review, manage and/or approve applicable quality related items via the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • Coordinate quality investigations by utilizing methodical problem-solving techniques to find root cause and implement proper corrective actions.
  • Participate on teams for the development of new products and serve as quality representative on the commercialization team such as coordinate qualifications, set material specifications, test methods used, etc.
  • Ensure continued certification of ISO 9001:2015.


  • Work with the business organization, Technical Service and other necessary groups to respond to customer product information inquiries, special testing and product information and provide appropriate communication back to relevant organizations.


  • Provide necessary support during audits of suppliers, manufacturing partners and distribution centers.



Required Skills/Expertise Qualifications

  • Minimum B.S. in a technical field
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems with structured problem-solving techniques, root cause analysis, and statistical tools is required
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is required (film manufacturing preferred)
  • Strong commitment to task and ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple assignments in a high activity environment
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on manufacturing environment
  • Initiative, drive, pro-active and attention to detail with a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to manage team and provide ongoing coaching and development
  • Clear and effective written and oral communication
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport in good standing and the ability to travel outside the USA.
  • Demonstrated computer experience with standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
