Role Description

Tax Managers prepare more complex tax compliance documentation and tax returns and review less complex documentation prepared by Senior Tax Analysts.  The role also calculates high level components of the effective tax rates that flow into the quarterly SEC filings such as the pension and LIFO tax calculations.  They seek guidance from Tax Experts, Senior Tax Managers, and Tax Directors when needed.

 

Tax Managers are highly knowledge and experienced in their respective subject matter areas.  They are responsible for applying this knowledge to manage the calculation and documentation of any task or assignment and sharing this knowledge with Tax Analysts.

Responsibilities

 

  • Leads projects directly related to reducing the effective income tax rate and to reduce cash tax payments through planning initiatives
  • Supports business development (e.g., M&A) initiatives
  • Leads the compilation of requested documents and preparation of responses related to tax controversy/audit defense in the resolution of the audits
  • Mentors teammates and acts as a resource to peers
  • Performs research and analysis on more complex tax issues and monitors tax law changes
  • Assess departmental workloads to determine need for outsourcing 
  • Implements technology to maximize efficiency, minimize errors and take a new perspective on existing solutions

Qualifications

 

  • BS/BA in accounting or equivalent education
  • 10+ years experience in large Corporate Tax department, public accounting or law firm
  • CPA, Law Degree or other advanced degree, preferred
  • Leads projects directly related to reducing the effective income tax rate and to reduce cash tax payments through planning initiatives
