Responsibilities

 

- Principal formulation scientist responsible for supporting Eastman's Specialty Plastics business, with specific focus in Electronics and Automotive markets where there a strong desire for products that are sustainable (e.g. fit into the circular economy)

Responsible for creating new thermoplastic formulations that meet customer needs
- Work with Application Developers to
understand customer needs and define product attributes
- Work with
analytical specialists to define and implement product testing protocols for thermoplastic formulations

Support scale-up and manufacturing in bringing new products to market
- Develop project plans and lead projects that
support above duties
- Communicate results and recommendations to team and management; document results in reports
- Apply
statistical tools effectively (six sigma, capability analysis, design of experiments)

Qualifications

 

- Bachelor of Science in Polymer Science or Engineering, Materials Science or related is required; PhD is preferred
- Experience in designing thermoplastic formulations/recipes that meet customer needs is required
- Experience in thermoplastic compounding processes and equipment is desired
- Strong project management skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to work in a team environment
- 3+ years' experience in thermoplastic polymer product development or manufacturing/support is preferred
