Responsibilities

The Innovation Marketing Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction and development of an innovation pipeline of new offers aligned to a specific industry or market segment. The areas of responsibility can vary across the organization. The ideal candidate would: 

 

  • Have a deep understanding of Eastman’s enterprise-wide capabilities and how they contribute to delivering customer value 
  • Develop a value chain analysis to prioritize where Eastman offers should play to create a differentiated position 
  • Have a deep understanding of customer’s unmet needs, and ability to articulate a clear market satisfaction gap within an industry or market segment 
  • Build new offers for the market using a combination of existing and new offer elements (products, services, terms, etc.)  
  • Develop projects and/or products from idea to concept by
    • Formulating a concept through discovering customer unmet needs and accurately capturing the voice of the customer 
    • Developing and executing a project plan utilizing key marketing activation concepts 
    • Developing a unique value proposition that is differentiated and quantified 
    • Demonstrating and documenting the value in use at target customers 
  • Provide continuous development on new products or projects in the innovation pipeline by
    • Utilizing internal resources through cross functional teams 
    • Utilizing external resources by developing relationships and teams with innovation partners (e.g. open innovation, partnerships, academia, joint developments, etc.) 
    • Developing new opportunities within the pipeline 
    • Engaging key stakeholders and project portfolio sponsors on project/portfolio health 
    • Displaying proficiency in stage-gate development methodologies 
    • Providing experience in project de-risking 
  • Continuously review the voice of the customer feedback to ensure there are no gaps by 
    • Reviewing and adjusting based on feedback to allow for improvements to products and offers 
    • Following customer needs, market trends, and competitive market intelligence 

Qualifications

Education:

The preferred candidate would hold an MBA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or a Technical field

 

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of B2B marketing experience in a chemical or technology company
  • Experience in commercializing newly developed products
  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial drive and comfortable operating in ambiguous situations
  • Demonstrated experience working with customers on innovation/product development
  • Experience setting vision and strategy, planning, critical thinking, and overseeing projects
  • Experience working cross-functionally
