Role Description


This role is eligible for remote work.


The Digital Service Architect is responsible for engaging Eastman’s Global Supply Chain/Logistics internal and external partners to create a strategic digital architecture, design a set of capabilities to enable optimization of Eastman’s supply chain, network, and logistics Services.


This role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of experience in information technology to design capabilities at an enterprise level.  As a member of the Global Supply Chain Digital Service Team, the Service Architect proactively identifies and formulates solutions to improve products, processes, or services.  Leadership, communication, and relational skills are required in order to engage with team members while providing delivery of complex solutions.  The impact of this role can vary from division level to global significance.



•    Design and define solutions in support of IT architecture, security, and partner strategy
•    Drive specifications of digital capabilities from discovery and architecture design to implementation and support.
•    Lead technical vision, design, and architecture for digital transformation in logistics and network optimization.
•    Engage with software solution providers to improve solution delivery within the framework as a standard offering.
•    Communicate IT capabilities to business leaders to influence decision making and strategy.
•    Identify opportunities to overcome internal/external business challenges and drive best practices.
•    Understand current IT solutions that support business processes.
•    Research external software and business solutions to evaluate benefit to Eastman.
•    Responsible for overall integrity of the solution while maintaining a strategic view of the architecture.
•    Create a comprehensive business process map, including mapping IT assets to solutions.
•    Maintain responsibility for the overall service area process documentation.
•    Assess the implications of IT offerings from external service providers on Eastman corporate landscape.
•    Participate in the IT architect community to influence Eastman’s IT architecture.

Education and/or Experience


•    Education: Minimum Bachelor of Science degree is required for this role (Computer Science / Information Systems preferred)
•    Experience: Desired Six-Sigma experience (preferably Black-belt)
•    6+ years experience preferred
•    Has implemented technical solutions to multiple business / functional areas
•    Proven track record of innovative problem solving and futuristic thinking
•    Well-developed communication skills with executive level presentation experience; the ability to convey ideas in written form and the capability to share those ideas verbally in a clear, concise manner in order to obtain consensus and agreement.
•    Exceptional technical skills with broad experience defining innovative solutions
•    Deep understanding of SAP related to order to cash processes

•    Business process analysis and problem-solving skills
•    Excellent collaboration and relational skills; comfortable working with other skilled professionals on project teams toward common goals
•    The ability to accept and promote change
•    Highly driven and self-directed 
•    Willing to learn business practices with ability to balance technological solution against cost and justification, and to mitigate risk
•    Ability to identify wasted effort (process) by use of six-sigma and lean tools
•    Business process analysis and problem-solving skills
