Chemical Engineer

The role of the Engineer is to provide safety services and support for the Eastman Kingsport Site (EKS) and other Eastman Chemical Company sites upon request.  This role requires extensive interface and partnership with Manufacturing personnel.

This position provides a rotational assignment opportunity.  The Engineer is expected to work within the Process Safety Services group for a nominal period of 2 - 3 years, after which they will to move into another role where their developed process safety skills can be further leveraged (manufacturing leadership, staff engineer, process improvement engineer, etc.).

Services mentioned above include but are not limited to the basic loss prevention analysis fundamentals for manufacturing operations, including: 
* Process hazards analyses 
* Non-reactive relief system evaluation 
* Consequence assessment and modeling (fire, explosion and toxic exposure) 
* Layers of protection analyses (LOPA)

Support includes but is not limited to:
* Serving as Process Safety Expert or Plant Protection Representative on Operations-led safety studies / reviews 
* Assessing facilities and projects to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance and risk management 
* Providing technical support as needed to Property Insurance programs 
* Providing support to Manufacturing for day-to-day issues within their areas of process safety expertise 
*Conducting and reviewing incident investigations for catastrophic events including participation in incident response / follow-up as needed
* Maintaining and applying knowledge of current policies, regulations, and applicable standards


•Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering
•Prefer 3+ years’ experience in a chemical manufacturing setting with broad understanding of operational needs and issues across the site. 
•Must have good interpersonal, communication, and team   skills. This position will interact with personnel in all organizations. 
•Demonstrated project management skills 
•Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs 
•Good collaboration and consultation skills  
•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously within budget and schedule
•Ability to compile and analyze complex data
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required related to client contact, documentation, and communication of results/recommendations.
•Strong customer focus, with demonstrated ability to solve complex issues and work in partnership with Manufacturing and other stakeholders
•Prefer knowledge of US Occupational Health and Safety Adminstration, Internal Process Safety Standards and ACC Responsible Care codes.
