Information Technology –  Manufacturing System Analyst (Data Historian Team)

Role Description:

The Manufacturing Systems Engineer is a role within Information Technology that champions and provides technical support for the use of PAS PlantState Suite and OSISoft PI software across Eastman.    Initial assignments will focus on PlantState Suite software,  but will expand to include OSISoft PI, AspenTech IP21, other manufacturing software / digitization efforts.  This is an excellent opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer with IT experience seeking an Information Technology career opportunity.    The role requires gaining in-depth knowledge of Manufacturing business processes and the applications that enable them. Experience with OSIsoft PI software (Analytics, Asset Framework, Event Frames, PI Vision, ProcessBook, Interfaces & Connectors, …) would be an advantage.   This position has active engagement with Business Partners in Manufacturing, and Process Engineering with a focus on delivering solutions that address evolving business needs.

 

Responsibilities:

- Provide technical support related PAS PlantState Suite software (PlantState Suite, Doc 4000). Including: product capability consulting, installation, configuration, performance monitoring, integration and usage .

- Provide technical consulting related to OSIsoft PI data historian software (PI Data Archive, Asset Framework, Analytics, Event Frames, Notifications, PI Interfaces/Connectors, PI Vision ).

- Provide technical consulting for integrating DCS, OPC-DA and other industrial data collection systems.

- Insure highly available application services, performance monitoring, software distribution and issue resolution.

- Support service offering upgrades and expansion.

- Performing application administration, configuration, programming and testing tasks.

 

Functional Skills and Capabilities:

- Requires knowledge plus aptitude to address and support technical issues.  Use analytical skills in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing software and infrastructure problems.   

- Ability to recognize and engage support team to correct server, network, and security problems.  Assist with application server software installation.   

- Ability to complete tasks related to HW/SW monitoring, Windows security and OS patching.

- Familiarity with control system protocols such as OPC-DA, Modbus and PLC communications.

- Interest in next generation data collection systems (like IIOT, REST interfaces).

- Able to lead small projects, be proactive, and demonstrate initiative.  Able to work independently and receive minimal guidance or oversight.

- Positively impact service reliability.  Acquire usage knowledge and exercise good judgment to ensure risks are appropriately addressed.

- Able to work collaboratively with team members, manufacturing management, support functions, and vendors.

- Strong communication skills.  Effective and proactive communication.

- Experience with current programing language trends and concepts.

 

Required Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, or other comparable degree (required)

- 3+ years related work experience. (preferred)

- Previous manufacturing or manufacturing support experience. (preferred)
