Description:

 

  • Support the hardware / software of various computer-based control systems (DCS / PLC) for manufacturing production facilities.
  • Install & implement new control systems, strategies and system upgrades.
  • Design & execute modifications and configuration changes to existing control systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair existing control systems.
  • Administer and manage system architecture, associated domains, accounts, policies and system security.
  • This position provides support for systems located across the Kingsport site and functionally reports to a supervisor with a technical background in controls, but routinely involves minimal supervision.

 

Qualifications:

Education: B.S. degree in Engineering Technology or Computing or its equivalent from an accredited program (preferred)

 

Candidate must possess:

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Good computer skills & programming experience.
  • Problem diagnosis & resolution ability.
  • Very good team & interpersonal skills.
  • Strong dependability and ability to work harmoniously in a team environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 5%.
  • Willingness and ability to work off-hours as business needs dictate, and to be on-call after-hours and weekends when needed (typically 1-4 weeks per year).

 

Desirable:

  • Background / experience in electronics / instrumentation / process controls.
  • Experience programming DCS (Distributed Control Systems) (e.g., Emerson Ovation / DeltaV, Honeywell TDC / TPS / Experion, NovaTech D3, Siemens PCS7 / OSx, Yokogawa Centum VP) and/or PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) (e.g., Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / CompactLogix / SLC / MicroLogix, Siemens S7 / 505, Modicon, Honeywell).
